Subject: Kendall Morse's Hat From: GUEST,Steven S Date: 17 Aug 03 - 06:24 PM Kendall Morse has lost his hat! Can you help us find it? It was an appropriately ugly little number that suits him to a tee. To see hat, click on Kendall's hat Investigating officials believe that if the thieves sell it on eBay they could get as much as $7.00. If you find this little Greek chapeau, please return it to Kendall or drop it in the nearest waste recepticle. Thank you. |
Subject: RE: Kendall Morse's Hat From: Jeri Date: 17 Aug 03 - 06:40 PM They ought to severly chastise the sellors! I ain't seen nuthin' and weren't in the vicinity, but please tell me about that capo! |
Subject: RE: Kendall Morse's Hat From: Big Mick Date: 17 Aug 03 - 06:50 PM Was this a theft for profit? Or a mercy killing? Mick PS: Make sure the Captain brings his tired, old, hatless arse to the Getaway. I miss him! |
Subject: RE: Kendall Morse's Hat From: Amos Date: 17 Aug 03 - 06:52 PM What IS that capo, anyway?? Hey, Skipper!! Love the hat!! A |
Subject: RE: Kendall Morse's Hat From: kendall Date: 17 Aug 03 - 06:58 PM Steve, remind me to murder you later! I don't have any particular love for the cap, but, I'd like that chuauffers badge back. Bill Preeper has the oddest capo I ever saw. Can't tell you anything about it, but, Steve Sellors can. (If he will) |

Subject: RE: Kendall Morse's Hat From: GUEST,Kim C no cookie Date: 17 Aug 03 - 09:16 PM I like Kendall's hat. I think Mister would look right smart in one. |
Subject: RE: Kendall Morse's Hat From: Uncle Jaque Date: 17 Aug 03 - 09:44 PM You know folks, a man's hat is like a dog's tail; it becomes, in time, an extension of his personality and a symbol of his identity. The manner in which it is worn can express certain moods or disposition. Women have this thing, sometimes, with shoes - but with us, it's hats. Clipping a chap's fedora or shanghaing his chapeau is darned near as bad as scalping him, IMHO. I haven't been able to find my reproduction Civil War Union Army forage cap all year, and I suspect that some dastardly feind swiped it off of the dashboard of "Old Red", my '91 Plymouth Voyager van, where I often kept it. It had seen some hard action and nasty weather over the 12 or so years I'd had it and was on the verge of disintegration... but still I felt a little violated. Cpt.BUNKER had a whole barrel of those caps at the China Seas, and probably still does somewhere - but you get kind of sentimentally attached to a hat, especially a favorite "trademark" one. I do hope that Kendall gets his lid back in due course, complete with original resident spiders, moths, and gawdknows whatever else he's had stashed up in there. Chauffer's badge, eh? I wondered what that little brass tag clipped to the left band was. Sorta figgered it was a rabies vaccination certificate in case he got lost and ended up in a pound someplace. |
Subject: RE: Kendall Morse's Hat From: Mudlark Date: 17 Aug 03 - 10:35 PM Kendall Morse lost his hat And though some did deplore it He'd really like to have it back For the girls all did adore it. A baseball cap, it just wont do Nor a big ole Stetson neither And he turned hands down a derby too Says he don't want that kind either Rumor claims it disappeared into A noisome black trash baggy And a jealous few said it was high time Said the hat was old and saggy. But it fitted Kendall to a T No other could suit so surely And I, for one, hope he gets it back As do all the admiring girlies. |
Subject: RE: Kendall Morse's Hat From: Amos Date: 18 Aug 03 - 12:02 AM LOL!! First rate, Nancy!! A |
Subject: RE: Kendall Morse's Hat From: katlaughing Date: 18 Aug 03 - 12:25 AM LOL, well done, Mudlark! My Rog has misplaced one of his favourites from Venezuela. Their cowboy hats are remarkable in that they are made of rickrack, a kind of cotton lace. Makes them very easy to shape and also keep clean. This was his newest one, just sent to him last year. Not sure where he left as we've checked the transmitter building where he thought it was, plsu the one restaurant which might have it...he has a couple of others, but they're just not as nice. Good luck, Kendall, you look mighty nat-cher-all in such a smart cap! kat |
Subject: RE: Kendall Morse's Hat From: Roger the Skiffler Date: 18 Aug 03 - 03:32 AM Shades of Staggerlee! I have a "Breton cap" that looks similar but I lack the style (and talent)of Cap'n Morse. RtS |
Subject: RE: Kendall Morse's Hat From: kendall Date: 18 Aug 03 - 08:12 AM Actually, it is almost new. Hasn't even shrunk yet. That chauffer's badge; my father was a chauffer for a man named Fred Hovey back in the 30's, including the year I was born, (1934), and, although that badge was never his, my friend, Sinsull gave it to me. So, ..."You can keep the damned old cap, but please give me back my badge" (Sorry, Shel) You folks are merciless. |
Subject: RE: Kendall Morse's Hat From: Jeri Date: 18 Aug 03 - 08:23 AM Information on both cap and capo requested. Is there any news in the investigation? How did the cap come to be lost? (Not to self: if you're gonna deliberately misspell one word in a sentence, doing another accidentally sort of takes the punch out of it.) And we doubt he was an old salt But The evidence ain't shakey And seems to point that way! There's a ballroom globe for seagulls Down in Portland now I hear And planes think it's a landing light When the moon it shines so clear And the fleas are getting lonely For the scalp on which they sat And he don't look right without it So please give him back his hat! |
Subject: RE: Kendall Morse's Hat From: GUEST,Steven S Date: 18 Aug 03 - 12:34 PM Kendall's hat is (relatively) safe in the hands of John Murphy. For those interested in the capo in the pic, Billy says it's a Hamilton Fret Spanner. Well law dee dah. He says it applies pressure in the tradition place between the frets and also really close to the fret so it doesn't pull you out of tune even way up the neck. It's flexible so it'll hug an arched fingerboard. He's been using it for years and he and his spanner are very much in love. Steve |
Subject: RE: Kendall Morse's Hat From: kendall Date: 18 Aug 03 - 12:43 PM If John has my cap, I wont worry. Jeri, thanks, I guess. |
Subject: RE: Kendall Morse's Hat From: Janie Date: 18 Aug 03 - 05:31 PM Jeri--Heeheehee. Hope you have a little tune for that one that the FSGW Mudcat Cabin's Women's Chorus can work up! Janie |
Subject: RE: Kendall Morse's Hat From: SINSULL Date: 18 Aug 03 - 08:31 PM If the truth be told, Capt. Morse had a vibrator hooked up to his cigarette lighter. I suspect that it distracted him even more than a passing llama. Must have been something special to get him to part with his hat. Why did he have it off in the first place? Didn't know it came off! There is more to this tale than meets the eye. |
