Well, I'm excited. I finally was able to sign up with the best guitar teacher in town. Not only that, but I was able to find a slot for my 13 year old son. (School just started here, so it seems to make for a general shuffling of students for this teacher, and I lucked out.)I'm looking forward to rising off my current plateau and improving some skills.
So the question is, anyone else starting something new these days? Remember, if you ain't learning something new, you just might be dead!

Got fired on Independence Day, so I'm looking for a new job!

Does that count?

Does wiggling my bits at the belly-dancing workshop at Broadstairs FF count? ;-)

Graham.

(also learnt some useful slide and DADGAD stuff there too)

George...what rotten luck and obnoxious timing. Good luck with the job hunt. And Leadfingers...congrats! I know you will enjoy it. Blues-Life, hope the lessons go well for you and your son.

In an effort to kick myself off a writing plateau and finish a book I've been working on for a year I'm starting a difficult but motivational writing class in Sept and adding another, more high powered, critque writer's group to my schedule. If this doesn't work, I'll scrap the damn book and go back to trying to figure out D tuning...

Mudlark:

Look for the earlier rough spots ad see if you can untangle them coming forward. It made it a lot easier for me with some help from friends to clean up the first 2/3 and then go forward.

Well, at 42 years old I am applying to join a "sound engineering and production" training course and I am well into the process of setting up a record label (with my partner).

Who says life begins at 40?

Keep trying to walk down those new roads folks ...

Best regards
John Robinson

As it now looks like I'm a solo unaccompanied performer, I am learning some new songs. Does that mean I'm still quick?

If you go through life with the right attitude, lessons never stop.

Learned a few this year.... got a degree from the school of life, a diploma from the college of hard knocks and an 11+ from the kindergarten of getting the crap kicked out of you (with apologies to Cpt E Blackadder).

Think I'll take up stunt riding - it has to be safer and less painful than this!
