Subject: Lyr Add: THE NEW PAULINE HANSON SONG From: Klavdivs Date: 24 Aug 03 - 07:55 AM This will only be of interest to Australians. In commemoration of Pauline's recent holiday from public life I would like to offer this humble piece of doggerel. At present it's just a bush ballad, but I'll conjure up a tune in the next day or 2 ready to perfrom at the folk club in Thursday night. THE QUEEN OF IGNORANCE Here's a song for the queen of hairdos, of twinsets and lips pursed Her ignorance now her downfall, her simple faith her curse A true-blue redneck's martyr, a St. Joan for all that's blind She'll be canonized and lionized, but she ain't on *my* mind She's sitting out in Wacol, mouldering righteous rage Finally feels the madness and the misery of the cage That punishes mere children for their colour and their race Who wait without conviction, who just came to the wrong place She wanted longer sentences, she's got what she desired Will this water down those "principles" that once set her on fire ? Is she still against appeal rights now ? Or will she somehow soften Will she be keen to try to turn the clock back now so often ? But Pauline you're irrelevant, your legacy has spread Hateful poison from your tongue into the public weal has bled The pragmatists and the spin-doctors have tamed the storm you brewed And converted it to policies that seem of milder hue We never were One Nation, and sure as hell not now Now divide and rule, and point the bone, with tired old sacred cows And it's our people who have spawned her, egged her on, hid behind her Although she is the whipping girl, just let me now remind yer The heartless men just play her tunes, whilst she's still hangin' tough, The emperor's robes are see-through, but who will call his bluff ? Pauline's work is done, her phoenix needn't rise again and Won't you tell me how this came to be, Oh someone please explain |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: THE NEW PAULINE HANSON SONG From: Hrothgar Date: 25 Aug 03 - 05:41 AM Good song - but I still reckon three years is a little over the odds compared to what some other people didn't get - like the Honourable Peter Reith and the late Senator Mal Colston. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Add: THE NEW PAULINE HANSON SONG From: allanwill Date: 25 Aug 03 - 06:31 AM Just finished a "pub" discussion on this issue. Personally, I think this is a case of the punishment NOT fitting the crime. But, at the same time, I cannot think of a more fitting person to receive three years jail for being so politically dumb and naive. This was definately a "political" sentence. Please explain. Mind you, thank goodness somebody with a bit more intelligence did not front the One Nation party, because there were enough Australians out there who were being taken in by the rhetorical bullshit they were coming out with to have influenced an election. Subject: RE: Lyr Add: THE NEW PAULINE HANSON SONG From: Klavdivs Date: 25 Aug 03 - 09:53 AM To Roger and others - thanks for the feedback. Actually my song, (which will be performed this Thursday first to the tune of SGT SMALL,until i work out an original tune) is not really a diatribe abt Pauline, and I'm sick of all the discussion over her. What I was more getting at, is the complacency and laziness which she appealed to, and the way that we as a community have allowed her agenda to become mainstreamed. Oh, and it IS fun to sing. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: THE NEW PAULINE HANSON SONG From: GUEST,Phil Date: 25 Aug 03 - 08:58 PM Her jail sentence may be wrong but why give her so much publicity. Surely we are better off remaining committed to what we know is right and ignore Pauline Hanson |
Subject: THE NEW PAULINE HANSON SONG From: Klavdivs Date: 26 Aug 03 - 09:30 AM I'm not the only one whom the redneck redhead has moved to songsmithing. Read in today's paper that her son is about to record a song he wrote for her called "Innocence". Hmmmmmmm ..... that'll be a tear-jerker. Do you think I should release mine too ? And maybe on the same day. I found the idea delicious. I know - I'm just a sicko. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Add: THE NEW PAULINE HANSON SONG From: Sandra in Sydney Date: 26 Aug 03 - 09:38 AM Will it be as good as Martin Pearson's song? I thought it'd have to be his as it's called The Pauline Song - all Martin's songs are called The (something) Song And getting the CD out I find the credit - (Pearson (NOT Thompson, don't sue me!)) sandra |
