Subject: BANBURY FF 2003 From: Phot Date: 27 Aug 03 - 12:10 PM I'm just wondering who might be going to Banbury this year? Its a cracking festival with lots of fun and a good cosy feel, located in a town steeped in history, on the South Oxford Canal, great indoor camping, and best of all, great beer at good prices! Oh, and Cllr and me are performing! Get the Gen here Chris |

Subject: RE: BANBURY FF 2003 From: jimmyt Date: 27 Aug 03 - 12:26 PM do you treat people who are overcome with too much beer, Jude? |
Subject: RE: BANBURY FF 2003 From: JudeL Date: 27 Aug 03 - 12:31 PM If they turned up I would treat them appropriately .... what that would mean would depend on the state they were in! |
Subject: RE: BANBURY FF 2003 From: Morticia Date: 27 Aug 03 - 12:37 PM Does that mean you are going to come kitted up with Resolve,Jude? In which case, can I book two and a glass of water now? |
Subject: RE: BANBURY FF 2003 From: JudeL Date: 27 Aug 03 - 12:50 PM I can bring some Resolve up and give it to you as a friend but NOT when I am on duty and NOT as as first aider. The rules are quite strict on some things. |

Subject: RE: BANBURY FF 2003 From: Phot Date: 27 Aug 03 - 02:53 PM Just spoken to Mary and have some more info. Season tickets are the same price as last year, only £23, even though this time it's a 3 day rather than 2 day festival. Event tickets can only be purchased on the day on site (and are obviously subject to availability) Indoor camping and hardstanding is available at North Oxfordshire College at £3.00 per person per night and a free Shuttle bus will be available from the College at peak times. Look forward to the Sunday morning Big Sing in the bus station cafeteria (scare the hell out of National Express!!) Chris |

Pixie is thinking of getting a nurses uniform....book your places in the Resolve and Rehydration Clinic now.....I'm expecting a demand *G*. |

Subject: RE: BANBURY FF 2003 From: jimmyt Date: 29 Aug 03 - 03:57 PM He9llof an idea, Bassic! I would rather meet jo9hn under less stressful circumstances (for either one of us!) Maybe you can all take up a collection and send him over here and I promise to fix his mouth before I send him back to Hu9ll (I am not sure AMreica is ready for jo9hn , though!) |
Subject: RE: BANBURY FF 2003 From: Phot Date: 06 Sep 03 - 05:45 PM Just a thought from another thread, there are moorings on the cut (canal) just below the lock, which just happens to be opposite the main venue, of the festival. So all you canal catters, can have the best of both worlds! You lucky people! Wassail! Chris |
Subject: RE: BANBURY FF 2003 From: jimmyt Date: 10 Sep 03 - 03:15 PM I am renewing this thread as I am interested in trying to meet as many of the catters as possible, so any list of attendees would be helpful for me (remember I am a dumb yank so humor me) jimmyt |

Subject: RE: BANBURY FF 2003 From: Snuffy Date: 08 Oct 03 - 06:49 AM IIRC there's no bar in the Oak(?)/Globe(?) Room where the singaround is, so it should be OK, Jane. WassaiL! V |

Subject: RE: BANBURY FF 2003 From: George Papavgeris Date: 12 Oct 03 - 05:41 AM So many Mudcatters there! I'm ashamed to say I forgot to wear the badge, left it in the car. My excuse is that I was too flustered after having spent 3.5 hours to do the 60 or so miles (£$%^ing M40 closed twixt J8-J9, and we were diverted onto the A40 Oxford ringroad, where we joined the thousands of Saturday Oxford tourists. Aarghhhh!) But a lovely day after all that. Lots of chats, lots of hugs, lots of singing (Guru, we forgot to put the "cannon balls" down again!), got a gig out of it (mucho gracias your eminence) and some decent grog ("Steaming On", never heard of it before). Heard Cloudstreet (lovely performances to add to their powerful songwriting - jealous - who, me?). And a lovely location, and gorgeous weather. Came home just in time to catch Titch awake (and keep her awake another hour telling her about it all). Here's to the next one. |
Subject: RE: BANBURY FF 2003 From: skipy Date: 12 Oct 03 - 06:56 AM Well done to Dereck & Mary, we had great time. If anyone got a photo of my two boys on stage with Keith D any chance of a copy? Regards Skipy |
Subject: RE: BANBURY FF 2003 From: Geoff the Duck Date: 12 Oct 03 - 02:44 PM Ducks are all home safe and sound. Thoroughly enjoyable weekend. Good company and overrun with 'Catters. Great to meet and have a drink and chat with jimmyt. First meetings also with Pixie of Doom and with Phot. Fun and games with (in no particular order) Morticia, Snuffy, Jude L, John Henry, Col K and others. We will hopefully be back next year. Quack! Geoff the Duck. |
Subject: RE: BANBURY FF 2003 From: Ian wxxx Date: 12 Oct 03 - 02:49 PM Just got back. Great atmosphere all weekend. lots of good beer and good sings. The breakfast sing was a great idea! |
Subject: RE: BANBURY FF 2003 From: Mrs.Duck Date: 12 Oct 03 - 03:20 PM Wonderful weekend. Well done Derek and Mary (hope to see you on here too soon!) Late night singing at the college was brilliant with the now traditional VG cheese and biscuits to help the cocoa (or was it Baileys?) slip down and keep the vocals lubed till the wee smalls. The sanddance conga round the Brooklyn diner was certainly a sight not to miss too! Met all too briefly with Jimmyt, and many other 'catters. Shame to have to come back to earth. See you all next year. |
Subject: RE: BANBURY FF 2003 From: Emma B Date: 12 Oct 03 - 04:59 PM Hope to catch up on some sleep tonight after a great weekend (thanks again Derek and Mary and everyone else who helped to make it so) I'm not sure about the sand dance - if anyone took photos how much do they want to destroy the prints!! Good to finally get a session in the bar on Saturday night and Sunday afternoon - hope the Mill staff have a 'change of heart' for next year Nice to meet American 'Catters - safe home |
Subject: RE: BANBURY FF 2003 From: Phot Date: 13 Oct 03 - 04:59 PM Back safe after a great weekend of song and music, it was great to put faces to lots of Catters for the first time, I really enjoyed meeting you all, and here's to next year! A very big thankyou to all of you who came and supported Cllr and I at our gigs, and put up with his bad jokes and my daft burble! Thanks to Derek and Mary for putting the whole thing together in the first place, and best wishes for the future. Wassail!! Chris P.s. Anyone for Miskin at Easter? |
Subject: RE: BANBURY FF 2003 From: alanww Date: 14 Oct 03 - 05:50 AM Well done "American Dairy"! Had a great time. "Every time I gaze behind the wheel ...!" Alan |

Subject: RE: BANBURY FF 2003 From: GUEST,Anna Date: 14 Oct 03 - 02:47 PM Thanks to the lovely Derek and Mary for giving myself and Amy a chance to play, and without the Festival I would never have known this marvellous place existed, nor have met so many of you lovely mudcats - thanks to all of you for being so nice! - so I'm giving a big cheer to the Banbury Canalside FF, long may it continue. Now, I'm going to toddle off and join properly... :) |
Subject: RE: BANBURY FF 2003 From: Allan C. Date: 14 Oct 03 - 03:07 PM Not unlike everyone else, I had a fabulous time. This was my first festival on this side of the pond and if this was anything like the rest, I'm sure to be attending many more. It was a pleasure to see some of the same faces I saw at the Yorkshire Gathering as well as to sing with so many new friends. It did seem a little odd to have had to travel this far to meet jimmyt. Until quite recently we lived within about 400 miles of one another. A big thanks to all who organized the event. Well done! |
Subject: RE: BANBURY FF 2003 From: John Routledge Date: 14 Oct 03 - 08:12 PM Have just been with 8Pints and Sue vG. Bob had no voice left and quietly pronounced it a wonderful weekend. Sue confirmed!! As they are offline at the moment I am posting for them. |
Subject: RE: BANBURY FF 2003 From: Adrianl Date: 17 Oct 03 - 03:49 PM Photos of Banbury (and other festivals)here. Keith Kitson's photos What a great weekend it was. Adrian |
Subject: RE: BANBURY FF 2003 From: Anarchy Date: 17 Oct 03 - 04:46 PM Thank you Adrian!!! Amy and I were totally bemused by this photographer during our set, and he vanished before we had a chance to ask him who he was and whether we could get copies. We accosted various likely looking gentlemen on Sunday and the sing, but to no avail. We'd given up hope (and forgotten all about it) then this! This guy is a really good photographer - caught the atmosphere of the event. Cheers! Anna |
