Subject: Looking for Parodies From: TonyK Date: 27 Aug 98 - 11:01 PM I'm looking for parodies of any popular songs to take to a weekend folksong retreat. I'll start the thread by sharing one I heard there last year that remains a favorite. (Sung to the tune "Tennessee Waltz") I was waltzing with my darling to the Tennessee Waltz at the annual Fireman's Ball Everybody there was starin' because she was wearin' a newspaper dress and that's all She had comic strips from her knees to her hips Where the want ads were, I can't recall Then the dress caught on fire and burned her entire front page, sports section and all! Hope you can help me out. TonyK |

Subject: RE: Looking for Parodies From: Stacy Date: 28 Aug 98 - 12:42 AM Funny you should ask, Tony... Tomorrow at a county-wide training for all library staff, I'm going to be singing a parady I wrote for our retiring library courrier driver. Jean is a well-liked woman known to all the library staff in the county... she shleps books around to all the county libraries five days a week. She's moving over the Cascade Mountains, so this is sung to the tune of "She'll Be Comin' Round the Mountain":
She'll be comin' to your library when she comes
She'll be drivin' a great, big white van when she comes
Then y'all go out and greet her when she comes
The next time you do an interlibrary loan
She'll be goin' over the mountain pretty soon
I hope she likes it.
The point of my post being that if even I can come up with words to creat a parody, anyone can!!!
