Subject: RE: Portpatrick Folk Festival From: Folkiedave Date: 30 Aug 03 - 07:19 AM Portpatrick is lovely but hard to get to by public transport. Reckon on 2 hours from Carlisle by road. As a piece of trivia for anyone who watched the three series of "2000 Acres of Sky" it was the mainland port. (The island where Michelle Collins etc lived was actually Port Logan about 8 miles down the coast). Dave |
Subject: RE: Portpatrick Folk Festival From: Hillheader Date: 30 Aug 03 - 07:29 AM Yes it is isolated, but thats part of the attraction. The scenery is beautiful. I could spend all day just sitting there. We love the village and visit this weekend happily coincides with the festival. Looking forward to it, although the festival seems a bit scant. Does anyone know if anything else is happening? |
Subject: RE: Portpatrick Folk Festival From: Folkiedave Date: 30 Aug 03 - 12:50 PM My wife comes from the area so I know it well. Never been able to get to the festival for work reasons - but I can recommend the area wholeheartedly. I got the impression that the festival has less money to spend this year because of what I perceive as fewer artists. Dave www.collectorsfolk.co.uk |
