Don't you miss this site when it's not available!

There's a folk session at the Woodman in Chapmore End tonight from about 8.30. The last one was rather anarchic, but seemed to be a great success. I'm going to try and get this one a little better organised, but maybe not too much!

Come along and join in.

I should be there, with a couple of others. Might be a bit late.

Thanks to all who came to the session last night - it was a good evening.

McGrath - where do you get the wonderful songs from? I won't be able to look at a jar of Marmite without smiling and as for cats....

Next session will be on 30 September from about 8.30 onwards. All welcome.

Sorry I missed, it all started to catch up with me.
Kevin Mcgrath is an outstanding song writer. He usually tackles more serious subjects than marmite location.

I happen to know roughly where Chapmore End is, but considering that this is an American discussion board I think that a little more precision is called for.

American based but decidedly International.Your point is a valid one though. An indication of country would not be amiss.

Well that takes me back... I grew up in Sawbridgeworth. Never been to Chapmore End, but last time I was back in Sawbo there was some live music at the Bell in Bell Street. Anyone on this list ever play there?

David

Don't play there but know that it's still going strong. In fact there is a thriving folk scene in the area as a whole. I go to sessions in Bennington (near Stevenage), Eastwick (near Harlow), Green Tye (not near anywhere!) as well as Chapmore End and two separate venues in Hertford, with a third to be added this month. For our American compatriots all the above are in Hertfordshire and Essex, in South East England.

I think the Bell session is going still on alternate Mondays. And there's another one in another Sawbo pub.And up the road in Bishop's Stortford there's a club on Thursday in a church vestry (with a bar) an anoither alternate Sunbday nights in a pub.

Also Morris Dancers and Mummers. Quite a focus of infection around here.

Oh yes, and there's also a club meets in the British Legion Hall in Waltham Abbey every Monday.

The next session at Chapmore End will be next Tuesday, 30th September. Come one, come all if you can make it.

By the way, the monthly Sunday lunchtime sessions at the White Horse in Hertford (Hertfordshire, England) have been resurrected and the next one will be upstairs on the 19th October from 1.30 to 4.00pm. It's being run by Ian C. and is open to musicians and singers. If you don't know the White Horse it is a real ale pub and can usually put on about ten different beers so you'll be spoilt for choice.

And the White Horse upstairs is non-smoking, which is another plus.

Linda and I will try and make it for tomorrow night. Could possibly offer you a lift from Harlow, Simon - I think you've got our phone number.

Dave

Cheers for that. However I've already spoken to Kevin, and he's gonna give me a lift. I've got your number if any change

Simon
