I'm looking for a rendition of Old Gray Mare which appeared in the WWII time period. I've found many versions of the lyrics, but not these (except hinted at in a google ad for the sheet music...)

The old gray mare is back where she used to be...

anyone help me out here?

The farmer gets five bucks for pulling in cars and trucks.
Oh, he's the old boy they all call a "Rube" they call him a hick
They call him a boob, but he aint stuck with a flat inner tube
Him and his old grey mare.

The garage of yesterday is now filled up with hay,
And instead of talking 'bout tires and gas
We talk about corn and oats and grass
........

That's all thAT comews to mind right now.

"The Old Gray Mare Is Back Where She Used to Be" (with "I'm Goin Back To Whur I Come From") was recorded by Carson Robison on Bluebird #30-0808. His recording also appears on the Various-Artists compilation, "Your Hit Parade: Golden Goofers," Time-Life CD HPD-40, 1993; and on Carson Robison's "Just A Melody" (Featuring Frank Luther, Vernon Dalhart & Buell Kazee), Old Homestead CD 134.

It was also recorded by Dorothe Morrow's Aristocrats (with "It's Love, Love, Love") on Columbia FB 3037.

I couldn't find the original date, or any lyrics or sound samples.

Oh the old spare tire it ain't what it usta be, ain't what it usta be, ain't what it usta be, You can't even tell where the retread usta be not so long ago.    So the old grey mare is back where she usta be, back where she usta be, back where she usta be many long years ago.
She may be old and lean but she don't need gasoline   Oh she flips her tail at a Ford and a Cadillac, kicks at a Pontiac, acts like a jumping jack. The old grey mare is back where she usta be many long years ago.
Oh the old grey mare is getting more attention, getting more attention than a widow with a pension , the old grey mare is getting more attention than she did long years ago.   And with all this fuss she's getting quite a temperament getting quite a temperment , we clipped her mane and gave her tale a permanent not so long ago . etc   etc.

Here's a version performed by Whitey and Hogan on Early Radio (Old Homestead Records OHCS-110, 1977), along with some accompanying liner notes. The album credits Arval Hogan and Roy "Whitey" Grant as the songwriters. The source of this particular recording is ultimately unclear, however it probably comes from "transcriptions and home recordings made in the forties and early fifties."

Especially interesting is "The Old Grey Mare Is Back Where She Used To Be", an old number that seems to foretell the energy crisis.

THE OLE GREY MARE IS BACK WHERE SHE USED TO BE

Oh the old spare tire, it ain't what it used to be
Ain't what it used to be
Ain't what it used to be
You can't tell now where the retread used to be many long years ago

So the old gray mare is back where she used to be
Back where she used to be
Back where she used to be
The old gray mare is back where she used to be many long years ago

She may be old and lean
But she don't need gasoline

Oh she flips her tail at a Ford and a Cadillac
Kicks at a Pontiac
Acts like a jumping jack
The old gray mare is back where she used to be many long years ago

Oh the farmer takes the old gray mare
And he waits by the side of a thoroughfare
He could make more dough just a-waking there
Than he could long years ago

A great big car comes a-whizzin' right past
Whizzin' right past
Going mighty fast
A few miles further he runs out of gas and the old mare pulls him home

The garage of yesterday is now filled up with hay
And instead of talk about tires and gas
We talk about corn and oats and grass
And the old gray mare is back where she used to be many long years ago
