I recall a song (or monologue) from some years ago, possibly by Bernard Wrigley. The only line I remember is 'I thought she was a Viking cause her face was like a Norse'. Does anyone recognise this and can provide the rest?

No idea. Nothing shows up with a search. However, there is a performer of that name. HAve you tried e-mailing him at his web-site?

Bernard Wrigley

Pavane, yep, you're dead right, the song is by Bernard Wrigley.

The line is actually, "she's speaking in Norwegian 'cos her face is
like an 'orse, and it comes from the song "the ballad of knocking
Nelly and the sixty niner".

This is on Bernard's "Songs, Stories and Elephants" tape (record)?.
I only have a tape of this so don't know if a record was ever released, I bought it from Bernard at one of the canal festivals
at Ashton - under - Lyne and it is on Loofy recordings No: LOO 005.
It was first released in 1976, and reissued in 1984.

If you give me a couple of days to try and transcribe the lyrics I
will put them on here, (can I do that without infringing copyrights
or upsetting anybody??? Can anybody answer that one for me???)

Otherwise I could PM you with them.

If you would like to know anything else about this tape, such as
what else is on it, let me know.

Hope this helps you.

Cheers for now.

Cattail !

Thanks for that Mick, saves me a bit of typing and I'll go and look
at it myself.

Thanks again.

This will take you directly to KNOCKING NELLY TRILOGY 2 by Bernard Wrigley, which contains the line,

"She's speaking in Norwegian, for her face is like a Norse"

This reminds me of an episode of "Drop the Dead Donkey" (Sally, the Viking and a Norse Warrior)...
