Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Bluestone Mountain (Mark Brinkman) From: GUEST Date: 30 Aug 13 - 12:47 PM Here's the thing.Mr.Brinkman is a songwriter. That's how he makes his living.Accordingly,he wants to be reasonably compensated for his intellectual property, and he takes measures to see that he is so compensated. That is why the lyrics, chords are not widely available. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Bluestone Mountain (Mark Brinkman) From: GUEST Date: 05 Jul 10 - 09:39 PM The chords I use in playing it on the banjo are A minor, and open G then on the chorus go to the A minor startin at the 5th fret, coming back down to the G , low A minor, open G and end on A minor, works for me, I'm sure it could be made more difficult, but no need to |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Bluestone Mountain (Mark Brinkman) From: GUEST,Lewin Date: 24 Apr 10 - 05:50 PM I would love to get either the tablature or just the chord sequence for this haunting tune. The best version I have heard is by the Kruger Brothers. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Bluestone Mountain From: GUEST Date: 25 Nov 09 - 01:30 PM I found the lyrics also, and have only listend to it at work so far. I'd like to play and sing it. Anyone work out the chords yet? Sounds like G, D, G, D, with a C and maybe Em in the Chorus? |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Bluestone Mountain From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 05 Sep 03 - 09:07 AM Jeremiah, looks like an excellent song. Out of pure curiosity, where was it you found it? |
Subject: Lyr Add: BLUESTONE MOUNTAIN (Mark Brinkman) From: Jeremiah McCaw Date: 05 Sep 03 - 03:59 AM And that was the clincher, George. A search with the composer's name turned up a link with the lyrics. (And I believe the song is based on a true story.) Geez, this mystery didn't even last until the day people got up and got involved! :-) Bluestone Mountain Mark "Brink" Brinkman 1999 BLUESTONE MOUNTAIN (Mark Brinkman) verse: If you travel through the hills of West Virginia Down to where the Greenbriar winds Turn your ear toward Bluestone Mountain And you just might hear the sound of a young girl cryin' chorus: Some say it's the wind through the canyon As it blows a lonesome sound through the pines Some say it's the sound of the river But I say it's just Cora Jones a'cryin' Cora lived alone on Bluestone Mountain With a little blond-haired boy there by her side The bloody civil war made her a widow And little Jacob was her life-blood and her pride Sometimes I wonder if God watches And sometimes life can turn in cruel ways 'Cause on a cold autumn day in late October Little Jacob wandered in Scott Hollow Cave Now the caves of West Virginia run forever A maze of black ribbon through the ground Cora went to search for little Jacob Neither Jake or Cora would be found So, if you travel through the hills of West Virginia Down to where the Greenbriar winds Turn your ear toward Bluestone Mountain And you just might hear the sound of a young girl cryin' |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Bluestone Mountain From: George Seto - af221@chebucto.ns.ca Date: 05 Sep 03 - 03:08 AM OK. Now I know a bit more. Bluestone Mountain was written by Mark Brinkman, and is a Bluegrass tune. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Bluestone Mountain From: Jeremiah McCaw Date: 05 Sep 03 - 01:51 AM Sorry, George, that ain't it. But cripes! talk about quick response. Thank you manymuch! And thanks, Masato. The link that I'd found previousy wouldn't play the sound clip. The song is about a (US) Civil War widow named Cora Jones and her son Jacob. Keep the responses coming, o true and noble friends. |

Subject: Lyr Req: Bluestone Mountain From: Jeremiah McCaw Date: 05 Sep 03 - 01:13 AM I've tried many ways to get this song, but none of my bookmarked lyric resources has helped, nor has a Copernic search. The song is a dark haunting thing called "Bluestone Mountain" by Don Rigsby on his CD "Empty Old Mailbox". I'm looking for the CD, and am gonna buy it, but meanwhilst does anyone have the lyrics (chords would be nice, but the words are more important at the moment). Pretty please? |
