I sang this song for some friends the other day and realised that I coudln't remember all the words. Can anyone help with the missing bits? I've most probably mixed up the verses and maybe the lines even.

BOOMERANG CAFE
(John Williamson)

At the Boomerang Cafe
Where I first met you
With lipstick on your lips
And vinegar on your chips
At the boomerang cafe
Where I sat down beside you
Do you remember darling

Well you thought I was a fool
As I rolled a cigarette
You thought I was too old
But I bet you don't forget
The Boomerang Cafe
Where I first met you
Do you remember darling

At the Boomerang cafe
All that I could see
Where those big brown eyes
That would change the world for me
And the Boomerang Cafe
Changed the world for you
Do you remember darling

I recall it was raining
And the heavens tore apart
Or was it just the lightning
And the thunder of my heart
At the Boomerang Cafe
Where I first met you
Memories darling

Was it long ago
Or just the other day
That you looked at me
And I didn't know what to say
Or was it just a daydream
That'll never come again
Memories darling

Any help with this beautiful song would be most appreciated.

It just doesn't make sense to me that the words to this song just wouldn't come back to you.;~)

Bugsey, you've got the words OK,but your last verse is verse number 3.
I'm sitting here reading and comparing to the words contained in the liner notes of John's album by the same name. Bye the way, John is coming to Cape Girardeau, Mo. and Springfield, Mo. on Jan. 31st and Feb 7th. On his web site on the left hand side of the page is the schedule.

Thanks Big Jim, I was sure I'd missed something out. But that happens sometimes when you get verses mixed up and haven't sung a song for some time.

I hope you get to see him when he comes round your way, he puts on a very good show.

It's a bit far for me to travel. I live in Perth Western Australia.

Well I live in Canada and John was here a year ago about an hour from where I live. I found out about his show after it was over. I was upset because he is great and would have loved to see him. I have 2 of his tapes and hope to get more. Oh yes!, Great song.

There's at least one real Boomerang Café, in St. George, Queensland, Australia, and it's for sale. Click here for pictures.

Hey Jim, I wouldn't buy that QL "Boomerang Cafe" - the $$$s would be like Rolf Horror's Boomerang, and "won't come back"... In all the snapshots there were only two paying punters... **VBG**

You played with the sugar and I didn't know what to say

In memories with you

I love the song, but if I sang it, like Bugsy I would leave out the 'my' from the last lines. Too personal to him, otherwise. Like many of his songs.   Love 'Purple Roses,' too.
