Is there any way for a far off Alaskan of Scot heritage to participate? Probably not, but I thought I would ask.

These events are in Maine? (Would be useful to put location in thread title).

Alison and Geordie are worth travelling a long way to hear- I have them on my doorstep this coming weekend at Folk Music Weekend (MacColl) 12-14 Sept 2003

:0)

They sure are!! We're so happy to be able to offer these events. Ceilidh House is a new Celtic Arts center in Brunswick. We'll be hosting all kinds of events from concerts to sesions to lessons to dances. More info can be had from cuillion@aol.com

I spent a month in 1990 working at Martin's Point Health Center in Topsham, lived in Freeport...I remember that beautiful area well.

Aloha,
Mark

Ah, Julia, so you've got your Scotish Heritage Center up and running? Good luck to you and Fred and all who are supporting this effort. I hope it really works.

And if it doesn't you could always sell furniture out of the front end of the building. People already know where to go.

So how close are you to the home Ceilidh addition?

Hey Brett! Good to "hear" you! Our own Ceilidh Palace is on hold since Fred injured his elbow wrangling some frozen pipes... Snicker not oh ye Tropical one! You will pay for your insolence!
Mayhaps we'll get some likely young lads to help put the thing up at some point- we've tried to get the girls to bring home prospects, but no such luck.
Anyway, we look forward to having convivial musical gatherings with folks such as Geordie and Alison in the future. We'll have to do something as the Little Brown Church seems to be suffering from neglect (the lower floor is unsafe!)
You get monsoons, we get frost heaves...
Heave away , me Johnnies?

Julia-

Is the "Skidompha library" the library in Brunswick across from the Post Office? Those of us who grew up in the area never called it anything but "The Library."

Oh, and if you have a chance, come to THIS Saturday's benefit concert at The Chocolate Church in Bath featuring Roll & Go and Kendall Morse, 7:30 pm.

Cheerily,
Charley Noble

I always thought the Skidompha Library was the one in Damariscotta.

Ha. Ha. Brett.... just think -Fred can't play guitar... no more Cappy John for you! Only angst ridden love songs!! Wait till you hear the new album!! Joyce will love it.
By the way the Skidompha is in Damariscotta. For those of you who don't have a clue, we have a lot of Abanaki Native American names here in Maine= along with places like Yarmouth, Bath, Scarborough Belfast and Bangor etc
Hey Charlie- what's this I hear about Fred knowing dirtier songs than you?

Charley claims to know some pretty dirty songs but the ones I've heard him do are not very bad at all.

Then again, I can't say that I've heard Fred do any songs that are all that raunchy either.

We need to have a sing off and decide who knows what. And we need to make sure we record it for posteriority.

Well Fred does a Scots song that has soenthing about "buckin' th bottomboards oot'n' the bed...".
Geordie and Alison sing alot in Scots= I wonder if they are singing stuff that would make us blush if we heard it in English? Hmmm maybe that would be a good sell for this workshop? I better not- I might get in trouble!
J
PS Is posteriority a dirty word? Kinda like innuendo?

Julia and Brett-

It's sad but true but most of my bawdy songs are somewhat rusty or mildewed. We do need a good private party to polish them up, or at least air them out. It would be sad if they truly passed from this earthly plain. I can still hear my uncle and Dennis Puleston swapping verses of what they called "The Gathering of the Clan."

Cheerily,
Charley Noble
