I was sitting in the sun at Mablethorpe this afternoon, admiring the donkeys, and wondered where muleteers go in winter.

jOhn, I can let you have a curry-eating pet werm for the knock-down slither-along price of only £4.99 (or 2 for £15!)

Fully house trained, responds to simple commands.

BTW do you speak Urdu?

(Why aren't you out watching Cara instead of reding tripe?)

jOhn are you sure you want to adopt a donkey? Don't forget they can be very cute & cuddly when little, but the terrible two's jOhn, think of that!!! Those screaming tantrums in the middle of the supermarket, the stamping of all four feet on the floor, the disgusted looks you get from passers-by which make you feel like the most inadequate parent in the world. Then there's the hassle of choosing a school. Which school in Hull is top of the league table in the the sort of specialist education that donkeys require? Can you afford the bus fares to said school? But the worst of all is the teenage years, the staying out late, not knowing where they are or what they're up to. The peer pressures they face, what happens if he gets with the wrong crowd, those psycho donkeys you see hanging around the town, sniffing oats & snorting worm tablets? What about when you can't communicate, when all you get is a grunt & the only time he voluntarily brays at you is when he's after money. Then there's university fees, top-up fees for donkey's are set to be the highest in the country & you want the best for him because you are a loving parent, then half way through his university course he changes his mind, drops out & goes to india to find his Karma then comes back & tells you he's fallen in love with a llama....think about all this very carefully jOhn, a donkey is for life.

i will write to them =
"dear donkey people, i sent a fiver, so where is my donkey then, you fiddling buggers?, if you cant find my place to send it, i living oppersite the supermarket, youd better send it soon, or i will complain about you, from.john"

I have noticed that there was an errant posting from the non-throbbing other half of the Oaklet binary cluster earlier. I might be alone Oaklet, in thinking that we (or at least one half of we) are indeed as handsome and charming as we think that one half of us actually is.

The Sun Inn, Beverley. Behind the Minster at 8.30.

I have managed to screw the end back on and taped it in roughly the right position although it throbs like hell this morning. This message was written by the throbbing half of the binary cluster that is now Oaklet.

Noreen, you are a really brilliant at being Noreen and we both really admire you. You have very lovely hamstrings.

I am now off to treat myself to a new coal scuttle. We look forward to meeting all visitors to the Sun this evening, but I might have to sniff you all as you enter. Please forgive me for this.

I have become entirely comfortable with the idea that there are suddenly two sides to Oaklet. One; a confused, diappointed but reasonally happy big-eared violin player and egomaniac and one; a sincere, supportive, expressive polymath who it is a pleasure to know (although he makes it hard). Please be aware that if you address Oaklet or read his posts, you are in fact engaging both of us. We are only separated by 8 miles of North Lincs, about 80 IQ points and by our regard for each other. It is a unique pleasure to have the other side of me to fall back upon.

Skipjack is another thing entirely but exactly the same. But I don't really know what that means.

So there.

No - this is the real Oaklet. Ask us specialist questions about being Oaklet and only the true, authentic Oaklet will be able to answer them.

It is regret that the Cara tribute band gets a large amount of gigs (in public) and without the support and advice of the true servant of music. The lead accordianist throws interesting shapes at the more frenetic end of Cara covers.

This is the real Oaklet, revered as a deity by KJ. Accept no imitations. The other posts were made by Mrs. Drinkall from no 21. I cannot recall how I made it to her computer as it is in her bedroom. When she gets back from her coach trip with Norris to the White Rose Centre, me and her will have words.

Yes jOhn, he can. Like Polar Ben came in for me, sweet thing.

I too have met jOhn from Hull, who is in fact the one true Oakley. Don't accept imitations.

I have rushed out a pre-copy of 'The Snot in the Sonet', which is a faithful prediction of how each track might be, recorded by my accordion orchestra Maris Piper, the only true Cara tribute band.

I hope that the tune called 'Til Dawn is on the new recording as it is lovely. Also, there is a song called 'The Mayfly' which I've heard them [Cara] do - I hope that is on it.

I am not Oakley and have also discovered that I can reply as him. I have heard the Notes in the Stones and it is a strange, wistful collection of music.

I have met the one that calls himself Skipjack and once shared a chappatti, made by Oakley, with him at a sevice station in Lincolnshire. He told me that a rule of the sea is that each boat has to spend 28 hours every year sitting on mud and that the several hours we spent in this state were in order to fulfil a statutory requirement. He has told me other things.

I know Oakley quite well - I've met him three times. What I have just discovered is that I can reply, on his behalf, with regard to these Mudcat matters. Anyway, as I have nothing else on I'm going to partake of the Cara experience on Sunday. Is it a good band?

They have recorded some things, I think, as I've heard them on a BBC Lincolnshire Radio programme. Also, whilst on holiday in Ireland I heard them on Radio North West. Is it normal for unknown performers to get airplay in these countries?

R N, I think we spoke on the snowy evening at the Spilsby Theatre. Thanks for getting in touch. I'll publicise the new album here when it arrives next week, but please feel free to e mail me on david.oakley7@btopenworld.com

Er, Sireen, I think that the track that you like is number 2 - "Noreen's Waltz". Personally, I have always liked the "slippery Hand", but I think that few would be surprised about this revelation.

I'll bang on about Cara's "The Notes in the Stones" in a new thread next week, when the boxes arrive. So far KJ, Ossonflags and you, Noreen are the only recipients of bootlegs, in an attempt to thwart Skipjack's evil plan to go platinum again with his CDRs for a fiver.

The original, with a beautiful barcode and an Oaklet photo of Ballybunnion Castle on it is a tenner.

I saw them last in Spilsby earlier this year and can recommend them - they are well worth a listen. If you like music on the gentler side and you want to hear Mike Ryan's original songs, get yourselves to Beverley.

If they have a new album, I'll get a copy eventually, but I can't be there on Sunday. I have an e mail address from the album "Asleep behind the Settee", so I'll check. They should be better known.
