It's a reel called "You Married My Daughter But Yet You Didn't". Does anyone have a clue as to the story behind this one? I've tried searching the web already... Margo

Hmmmm. I'm intrigued. Sounds like another version of Mixed Up Family and all its related songs. Have you heard any lyrics, Margo?

No Joe, I've not heard any lyrics, but I have heard that is is also called "the Shoemaker reel". I don't know which title came first. It is a lovely tune. There is an example to listen to here

I just realized that my title was automatically linked to some sound samples. Boy, it's been so long since I've been on the mudcat there are all kinds of new things!
Well, it wasn't automatic. I made the link.

It's a Quebecois tune, s'far as we know around here. We play it in the Blue Skies Fiddle Orchestra.

I should think the double entendre in the title is pretty obvious.

I've been hearing it played as a Barn Dance. Goes well with Lucy Farr's.
