Here's my transcription of the Ian Gallagher recording. He says it's "traditional," but it's obviously a relatively recent composition - so that means Gallagher doesn't know who wrote it.... I'm guessing it's Tin Pan Alley Irish...

KEEP THE TRADITION ALIVE
Songwriter: ????

I'm a young minstrel man of proud Irish stock,
And I keep the tradition alive;
The place I was born in was an emerald block (?)
With O'Neils and O'Briens at each side.
Everybody (?) (?) would speak with a brogue,
'Twas the thirty-third county of Ireland;
And the sights and the sounds of a tenement town,
For an Irish experience in my land.

There'll be music and singin' and dancin'
As the friends and the neighbors arrive;
The fiddlers will bow and the spirits will flow,
And we'll keep the tradition alive,
We'll keep the tradition alive.

Now all the music has faded away,
Where are the old songs we sang then?
The door has been closed to the Irish today,
And may never be opened again.
What can we do, between me and you,
Our children must be our salvation;
It's up to each one of our daughters and sons
To keep up the Irish tradition.

There'll be music and singin' and dancin'
As the friends and the neighbors arrive;
The fiddlers will bow and the spirits will flow,
And we'll keep the tradition alive,
We'll keep the tradition alive.

Melody sounds kinda like "St. Brendan's Fair Isle."

The playlists of WFUV 90.7 FM from Fordham University mention 2 recordings of KEEP THE TRADITION ALIVE:

Mike O'Connor on the album "Keep the Tradition Alive"

Mike Carroll on the album "You Touched My Life"

All I found was a listing on a play list. Sorry.
