Subject: RE: Sheffield Folk fest 2004 - interested From: Alio Date: 18 Sep 03 - 12:37 PM Don't know if I can make the 5th, but I'd be happy to be involved in any way I can. Would depend, though, on which month the festival is going to be. Ali |
Subject: RE: Sheffield Folk fest 2004 - interested From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 18 Sep 03 - 01:17 PM It takes a year to organise most festivals, so you don't need to worry exactly when the event is going to be. There will be plenty to do beforehand. |
Subject: RE: Sheffield Folk fest 2004 - interested From: GUEST Date: 18 Sep 03 - 01:30 PM Minimum of one year and that's with (reasonably assured) funding. Dave |
Subject: RE: Sheffield Folk fest 2004 - interested From: Red and White Rabbit Date: 18 Sep 03 - 01:41 PM the plan is to have the festival next October half term term - I think its something like 22nd October 2004 culd be wrong but its around then anyway. Beardy/ ALio I will pass the message to MCFAT |
Subject: RE: Sheffield Folk fest 2004 - interested From: Noreen Date: 18 Sep 03 - 01:57 PM Malcolm, I'm sure you didn't mean to sound as patronising as you came across there. Ali organises a festival so knows well how long it takes- the date is important because a good portion of next year is already taken up. I'm watching this with interest. |
Subject: RE: Sheffield Folk fest 2004 - interested From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 18 Sep 03 - 03:22 PM My apologies to Alio, then, for telling her what she already knows. The curse of these internet pseudonyms is that half the time you could be talking to your own granny and not realise until somebody else told you. It is the case, though, that the majority of people have no idea how far in advance things like this need to be planned; and that it's already, if anything, a bit tight for next autumn, as we don't yet know how we stand for funding; so I don't think that my comment was an unhelpful addition to the thread, even if it was made in response to someone who, as it turns out, didn't need to be told. I too await developments with interest. There are a lot of people around Sheffield who are involved in the music, but many of us don't know each other, though I suspect that we all have mutual friends and acquaintances. The opportunity to work together and establish closer communications can't but be a good thing. |
