Subject: Help: Comprehensive MP3 buying sites From: Blackcatter Date: 28 Sep 03 - 01:23 AM Greetings all, I'm looking for a website that has thousands of MP3s in a bunch of genres available for purchase. All I seem to see are "unsigned" artist sites, which are great, but where do I go to legally download Zachary Richard, Howlin' Wolf, Los Lobos, the Doors, etc.? Please help, my church has a dance coming up and I'd like to play a good deal of stuff off the computer and into the sound system instead of dealing with CDs (and all my vinyl, too). Thanks in advance! |

Subject: RE: Help: Comprehensive MP3 buying sites From: Cruiser Date: 28 Sep 03 - 11:43 PM Thanks for the site info. I have a satellite ISP and they think I do not have a domestic (US) ISP which is a requirement at www.buymusic.com to purchase music. I get this message: {Start Quote} BuyMusic.com Available to Domestic Residents Only We're sorry, but due to license restrictions, BuyMusic.com content is available only to residents of the United States. Your internet protocol (IP) address shows that you are attempting to access this web site from outside the US. Thank you for your interest in BuyMusic.com. We apologize for any inconvenience this might have caused. {End Quote} I'll try applemusic.com now. So you foreigners and we satellite users are out of luck for now. |
Subject: RE: Help: Comprehensive MP3 buying sites From: Cruiser Date: 28 Sep 03 - 11:51 PM Oops, at applemusic you must have a Mac computer. Boy, this ain't as easy as it should be. Hard to honestly download songs nowdays! |
Subject: RE: Help: Comprehensive MP3 buying sites From: NicoleC Date: 29 Sep 03 - 10:54 AM I believe that AppleMusic is also licensed only in the US, and I wouldn't expect that to change anytime soon. These services are having a hard enough time getting licensed at all. However, their PC compatibility should be ready within the next month or two. Cruiser, you could try the subscription services to see if any is licensed outside the US. Listen.com, etc. |
Subject: RE: Help: Comprehensive MP3 buying sites From: Blackcatter Date: 01 Oct 03 - 10:27 AM Hello, I've looked at subscription services and didn't exactly see anything that had a broad base of music like I find at my local CD store. This is frustrating. I can't believe that with all the problems over the past years with Napster, etal, that serious paid alternatives aren't out there. It's like the music industry is hoping that MP3s would just go away. |
