Saturday 22nd November is Jacobite Day in Lancaster (NW UK) - a day of events and activities commemorating the arrival of Bonnie Prince Charlie and his 'rebel' army in the town, in November 1745. There will be pipe band performances; guided tours of the town, exploring how it was in 1745; tours of the building used as the Bonnie Prince's HQ, during his stay; period music from Hautbois and various other daytime entertainments, all free of charge.

In the evening, there will be a concert of Scots & Jacobite songs and tunes, with the fantastic double bill of Isla St. Clair and The McCalmans. This will be held in the Royal Kings Arms, Market Street, Lancaster. Tickets are £7 and are available from Lancaster Tourist Information Centre. Tel. 01524-32878 for bookings. The venue will only take about 100 people so anyone wanting to go is advised not to delay.

(This event is organised by the Lancaster City Council Arts & Events team, by the way, who also organise the Lancaster Easter Maritime Festival)

Just thought some of you might like to know...

HEY --GREAT TALENT ON SHOW! They are much more deserving of a welcome than French-polish Chairlie in 1745!

Was he going North or South in Nov '45?

South - he came back through Lancaster again on his way north but didn't stay as long!
