Subject: Folklore: Don't Blame Adam From: Hollowfox Date: 09 Oct 03 - 12:37 PM I just got back to work today, and wouldn't you know, there's a "stumper" question waiting for me on my desk. does anybody know anything about an African-American folktale by this name? The title is the only clue I have, and I'm not finding anything. Thanks in advance, Hollowfox |
Subject: RE: Folklore: Don't Blame Adam From: LadyJean Date: 09 Oct 03 - 11:41 PM Has your library got Zora Neal Hurston's "Mules and Men"? It might be in there. I was going to refer you to "The Women's Bible" Elizabeth Cady Stanton's feminist interpretation of scripture, which suggests that Adam was every bit as culpable as Eve. But I don't think it would apply. Wait! I did read a story, when I was a kid! It was in a book called "Yankee Doodle's Cousins" and it was called "Why the Negro Works So Hard". That might be it. |
