Most Folk music happens in small folk clubs. Over the years the number in the UK has dropped dramaticaly. Song and tune sessions still survive as do barn dances.

Mini-festivals like Swinton and the Open Door in Oldham, and I guess lots of others, clearly do well.

Has anyone tried putting a song session, a tune session, a folk club and a barn dance in the same building on the same night on a regular (once a month?) basis and did it work?

smaller scale things do happen; Pub in Byker (newcastle on tyne) has a session down stairs and dance upstairs and the Taybank has a musicians session downstairs and folk club upstairs.
