He's still around, and still demented as ever!

How could he be exactly as demented as 30 years ago?   Didn't seem to be on what you'd call a level trajectory, if there even is such a thing. But OK, cool. A survivor of the crazy days!

I shared the bill with Biff Rose on two different occasions. You can believe that they were really differenbt. Both gigs were a week long at Charlotte's Web -- a nightclub/coffeehouse (later a bar) in Rockford, Illinois. Tis was the mid-70s. Mainly I recall a great song about a boy who runs off and joins the circus, knowing all along that he'll return for his true love named Molly (I think it was). Time passes and his dream is always to go back to her. Then, too much time has passed and the dream is long lost and threadbare. Not all of Biff's music was my cup o' tea, but this one was a great song.

One extremely cold night, Biff and I were being driven back to the farmhouse where we were put up for the gig and we had THREE flat tires. I've no idea how that all got worked out----but it did. The club's head man, Steve Powers, was driving and took care of it. I just recall being pretty drunk or whatever and not able to help out very much.

Ah, nostalgia !!!

Hey Art, I love "Molly" and have long been looking for the chords and music for it. Can anyone help out there, I've tried all the Biff sites. Thanks, vl.

VLM,

I never did learn it and don't have the chords---but what Biff did with it on the piano was marvelous. It is a song that just grabs at my heart and tugs---is for anyone who has regrets for a few roads looked longingly down ---- but never taken. Whew, I can feel the pull and the coolness of toes put into mesmerizing waters---and then pulled back.

Willie-O--Have you listened to the MP3's on his websites yet? Strange it is may seem, the new songs have that same manic stream-of-consciouness, complete with the eccentric and wobbly piano--also still impossible to tell if he's really good or, well, you know what I mean--

Thanks Art, John Miller also did a great version of it and his solo guitar accompaniment used a lot of Biff's arrangement. vl
