Subject: New venue for Beverely sessions From: GUEST,ossonflags Date: 19 Oct 03 - 07:55 AM Well folks, after extensive research - most of it yesterday - by myself,Sir Roger and the Bionic Guitar player we are happy to anounce that the new venue for the "First Sunday in the Month" sessions will be at "Monks Walk".This is in Highgate not to far from the minster. That well known mudcatter and appreciator of vocal and musical talent "Specky", is the new Landperson at the above mentioned and is more than pleased to welcome us all there. The room used to be the old dining area and is splendid.High beamed ceiling, quarry tiled floor log fire and enough seperation between the room and the bar. There is adequate car parking and for the summer a beer garden. We did a lot of research into the liquid ambiance yesterday and found it not wanting, Guinness is excellant!!!! In fairness to steve we will play at the "Sun" for the last time on the first Sunday in November, the fisrt "Monks Walk" session will be first sunday in December.I hope we all make sir rogers sess, last sunday of this month and my sess - the final one - go out with a massive bang. and: LETS KEEP MUSIC LIVE !!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

Subject: RE: New venue for Beverely sessions From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 20 Oct 03 - 02:42 PM Just a reminder that this Sunday (26th) is my last Sunday of the month session and it could be the last one at the Sun. The arrangement that we have made at Monk's Walk is for the first Sunday of the month one only - we will carry on with the other Sundays at the Sun until such time as Steve goes. so please do turn up this Sunday in case it is the last one. The Tuesday night "acoustic workshop" will continue at the Sun for now but we may be looking for a new home for that eventually. Roger |
Subject: RE: New venue for Beverely sessions From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 20 Oct 03 - 09:58 PM Don't forget to have the details updated at the Yorkshire Folk Arts listings. Steve provided the info we had until now; I've changed it to fit what I think you've said so far, but I'd be grateful if you'd give me the full details when you have them. Thanks. directory@yorkshire-folk-arts.com |
Subject: RE: New venue for Beverely sessions From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 21 Oct 03 - 09:16 AM Malcolm It would have been me that sent you the info on Steve's behalf - Steve wasn't up to that sort of thing - so I'll do so again, as and when Roger |

Subject: RE: New venue for Beverley sessions From: Sir Roger de Beverley Date: 28 Oct 03 - 09:16 AM Because of the uncertainty as to when he will leave the Sun, Steve has cancelled the long term booking at the Sun after Nov. 9th. The last of these gigs is Punch The Horse and this Sunday it is comedy skiffle group "Kick n Rush" from Mansfield. After Nov. 9th Steve would like to continue to put music on but he can only book two or three weeks ahead. This means that he will look to book local soloists and duos on the basis that he may have to cancel at short notice if he gets a leaving date. The first such booking is for "Simon Davey and Steve Warne" on Nov. 16th. Keith and I will continue to run our sessions on Sunday afternoons until Steve goes - and it is looking more like the New Year at the moment - but, as posted above, Mick's first Sunday of the month session will move on Dec 7th. Roger |
