As was mentioned on the other Camp Harmony thread, the bad news is that I'm not going to be at Camp Harmony after all. The good news is that the reason for the bad news is that the wonderful woman I've recently met wasn't quite ready to go this year, but is definitely interested in going next year. Have fun!

I'll be there, Mark, and this will be my first time since about 89' or '90 as well. I'll be carpooling with Radriano. Looking forward to meeting you there! (Turns out that one of open mike's bandmates from Chico is visiting family here in Hawaii...he came to our "band" practice on Sunday! He's an awesome tenor banjo and DADGAD guitar player.)

I am considering going too, with some of the folk music society friends
from Chico...this may tip the scales on my decision if i know i get to
meet some fellow Cats there! I was holding out to decide whether to go to some desert hot springs or Camp Harmony for New Years...hard choice!
but the music won out!! (can't play music while soaking...at least not stringed instruments!)

The San Francisco Folk Music Club has its annual New Year's Campout, Camp Harmony, at two YMCA camps (Harmon and Campbell) near Boulder Creek in the Santa Cruz mountains. This year it's going to be held Tuesday 12/30/03 to Sunday 1/4/04. And this year, I'm going back -- for the first time since 1990-91! The envelope goes out tomorrow. Five days of singing, dancing, playing...shanties in the kitchen and old-time jams on the porch, contradances, swing dances, rounds, workshops, powerful choruses...and mostly getting to see some wonderful friends I've greatly missed, and making new ones, I'm sure. Many thanks to my old friend Sarah Lifton for encouraging me to make the trip. I had thought I'd be able to bring my daughter, which would have made the experience even better, but she has other plans.

I'm sure Joe Offer will be there, and I know Ray Frank will, and no doubt quite a few other California 'Catters. Anybody else? See you at Harmony!
