Subject: Lyrics add: Hinky Dinky Parly Voo (start) From: Jerry Friedman Date: 03 Sep 98 - 07:54 PM I am shocked--shocked--to find that "Hinky Dinky Parly Voo" is not in the database. I only know one verse, so here it is.
Mademoiselle from Armentieres, parly voo, Maybe someone can add the tune, or more verses. Another verse ends "And all he learned was je t'adore!" I suppose it's unnecessary to say this, but resist any temptation to pronounce "mademoiselle", "Armentières", or "parlez-vous" in French. |
Subject: RE: Lyrics add: Hinky Dinky Parly Voo (start) From: Amaranth Date: 03 Sep 98 - 10:43 PM All I can add is that this was written by a Canadian soldier during the First World War. It was a popular marching song of the time, many verses were made up and added during the war, since it was soldiers making up these verses the more profane the better. I'll try to get back later with additional verses. |
Subject: RE: Lyrics add: Hinky Dinky Parly Voo (start) From: dick greenhaus Date: 03 Sep 98 - 11:21 PM It's an update of a much older song called Snapoo. It's not in the DT as yet because I'm still trying to sort out verses. Any additions welcome! Post here. |
