Can somebody tell me where to find a midi file for the tune "Amber Tresses". I can find it on the mudcat midis, but I would like to hear it as the Carter family did it, or some other group, the midi is just a simple melody, and not a actual presentation of it. Thanks a lots!!

See this earlier thread for the original song, and a link to sheet music of 1874, which you may find interesting:

Amber Tresses Tied in Blue

I don't know if anyone has made a complete midi of anybody's arrangement of it; I just did the tune for Mudcat Midis, as I don't have infinite spare time. I should think you can get the Carter Family version on CD if you look around.

There is a nice version on Acoustic Disc (ACD-44) by Norman Blake.
His dry delivery works well with this song. Called "Music From Rancho
de Ville", the album is a tribute to Charles Sawtelle, late guitar player
the bluegrass band "Hot Rize".

I can let you have a cassette from the singing of Sandy & Jeanie Darlington, circa '65, if you pm me with your name & address.
