While Harry Basnett is out at the Open Door Folk Club tomorrow (Sunday) night, his CD, Decked Out With Pride will be played on Genevieve Tudor's Sunday Folk.
I do hope he doesn't mind.

I see that Genevieve Tudor's got the Mudcat on the link on her page on the BBC site that Watson lined to.

That's a dreadful shame GUEST, John. It's well worth a listen.
And Kevin, you may also have noticed a link to the playlist from last night - and noticed that it didn't include Harry after all.
I've apologised to him. The reason sounded like a really lame excuse, so I won't repeat it here, but the omission will be corrected next week.

It wasn't a lame excuse Watson! The fact was Harry's CD fell down the back of the chest ... and I didn't discover I hadn't got it until it was TOO LATE...

Harry...will you ever forgive me?

It'll just have to be 2 tracks instead ...and then it'll be on the play list and everything!

John - sorry you can't hear us. A coathanger on top of the telly ariel can sometimes help...

Well at least you found the CD Genevieve. I did a recording for Red Rose Radio in Preston many years ago now and waited eagerly to hear the broadcast. After several week waiting I was told that they'd lost the tape with me and several other people on it and it never got played at all!!
(Harry told me to send you one of my CDs - it's in the post!)

Cheers

Mark

Well you made me laugh anyway...which after the sort of day I've had wasn't easy...

I shall await next weel with pathetic anticipation...

Love....Harry.

I see your point Harry - waiting for you on the radio is a bit like the play - Waiting for Goodo.
I didn't think it was spelled like that, but I'm sure you know best.

Subject: The Trouble with Harry
From: Matthew Edwards

Well we celebrated Harry's 50th last Sunday at the Open Door in Failsworth, and what a grand occasion it was with Mark Dowding as the surprise guest and lots of other friends turning up to sing and recite for the 'lad' who is proving to be one of the most interesting and creative songwriters around.
He uses traditional material in a powerful way so that the songs assimilate well with well known songs; in fact when I first heard him sing the Black Gang I thought it was a song I'd heard lots of times before!
Do listen to his CD Decked Out with Pride
