Subject: RE: Punch The Horse - November fred From: Raggytash Date: 18 Nov 03 - 06:01 AM Fogie, You wouldn't like it, Punch the Horse are a fine 4 piece band based in Hull in the East Riding of Yorkshire. They consist of fiddler, accordianist, guitarist and vocalist and perform with much vim and vigour both contemporary and traditional music, mostly of a celtic flavour to an appreciative audience most of whom are the loonies who contribute to this thread as well as the band themselves. They seem to be duty bound to consume vast quantities of alcohol and thoroughly enjoy themselves at all times. As you will understand this is very hard work and not for the faint hearted. You would do best to avoid them at all times Raggy |

It should be interesting: photos from paperman to laugh at and sausage and chips 'cos pub team's at home (bloke in corner remember to do without tea to compensate). Ossie just reminded me of a little known fact that is as true today as when the Prophet pointed it out: Sayings of the Prophet No 11) There are some animals that are so well camouflaged that they have not been discovered yet. |

Subject: RE: Punch The Horse - November fred From: ossonflags Date: 18 Nov 03 - 11:36 AM Raggy, looking forward to seeing you at the Huddersfield this Saturday and maybe have a foaming beaker or twelve of Sir Arthur Guinnesses stagger soup. Thanks a million for that frank, honest, truethfull and unadorned description of one of the hardest working bands on the circuit. "Punch The Horse" is indeed all you say and more, as will all the thousands of people we have entertained over the years vouch for.Not to forget all the jolly publicans whose coffers we have stuffed with many the fee. For the one or two who seem to still have have trouble with what we are and what we look like,if you go to members photos look under "Oakley" and "Ossonflags" and all will be revealed. O, and by the by, we are playing at "Hope and Anchor" this friday with the virile and boyish oaklet on the fiddle - and sometimes mandolin |
Subject: RE: Punch The Horse - November fred From: Beverley Barton Date: 18 Nov 03 - 11:47 AM where is the hope and anchor mick? |
Subject: RE: Punch The Horse - November fred From: Oaklet Date: 18 Nov 03 - 11:59 AM The Hope and Anchor restaurant-that-sells-beer sits on an alluvial promentary at the confluence of the river Ancholme and the Humber estuary very close to 17 contented Freisians. The grid reference has two letters and 6 digits but I don't know what they are. If you approach Bob the landlord and exclaim at the top of your voice "thank's for last night, honey - you were fantastic", he will give you a free pint of what-you-fancy. So there. Oh, it is in South Ferriby Sluice (head towards Mr Benson's huge tripe works) in British North Lincolnshire. |
