Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Sheet music for Sunflower song From: lgpiper Date: 27 Dec 08 - 09:55 PM Excellent! Thanks a lot. That's what I need. Now to figure out if my Finale will notate the MIDI, or if I can figure out NWC, once I install it. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Sheet music for Sunflower song From: Sorcha Date: 27 Dec 08 - 07:19 PM Try this link Says there is a MIDI and a NWC file |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Sheet music for Sunflower song From: lgpiper Date: 27 Dec 08 - 06:42 PM I note that masato sakurai, who posted the links to the lyrics and MIDI files above, is still active here, but her links are broken. Any chance of posting links to a site that is currently active? My mother, who grew up in Kansas, is having a 100th birthday next week, and it would be cool to be able to sing that song with her, but I don't actually know it. Thanks. |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Sheet music for Sunflower song From: katriana Date: 06 Jan 04 - 11:27 PM Sorry I missed this thread earlier. The MIDI file on my Angelfire site is made from the sheet music. There is a Noteworthy Composer file on my site that has the sheet music and words. katriana |
Subject: Lyr Add: SUNFLOWER (Mack David - from Gene Autry) From: Jim Dixon Date: 08 Nov 03 - 12:46 AM Lyrics copied from http://www.angelfire.com/ks/tomes2/KansasSongs/Sunflower.htm, (This is the page Masato linked to earlier.) with minor corrections made by me to agree with the Gene Autry recording at the Record Lady's site. SUNFLOWER (Mack David, 1948) I was born in Kansas. I was bred in Kansas. And when I get married, I'll be wed in Kansas. There's a true-blue gal who promised she would wait. She's a sunflower from the Sunflower State. CHORUS: She's a sunflower, my sunflower, And I know we'll never part. She's a sunflower. She's my one flower. She's the flower of my heart. Skies are fair in Kansas. Clouds are rare in Kansas. Never saw a place that I'd compare with Kansas. So I'm goin' home to keep a weddin' date With a sunflower from the Sunflower State. CHORUS Troubles end in Kansas. Folks unbend in Kansas. Ev'ryone you meet will be your friend in Kansas, And they'll all be there to help me celebrate With a sunflower from the Sunflower State. CHORUS Oh, the moon is brighter and the stars are bluer, And the gals are sweeter and their hearts are truer, And I'm here to state there's one who'll celebrate. She's a sunflower from the Sunflower State. CHORUS |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Sheet music for Sunflower song From: nancyjo Date: 05 Nov 03 - 02:41 PM Are the Autry one and the Campbell one the same song? Autry's is listed as by Mack David and Campbell's is listed as by Diamond (no first name). |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Sheet music for Sunflower song From: JJ Date: 05 Nov 03 - 08:00 AM This song is well-known among theatre composers because it's the one Jerry Herman plagarized in "Hello, Dolly!" |
Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Sheet music for Sunflower song From: masato sakurai Date: 04 Nov 03 - 08:20 PM I think it's "Sunflower", a Gene Autry song. The Record Lady's All-Time Country Favorites has his recording; go to REQUESTS PAGE EIGHT. Bing Crosby also sang this (Glen Campbell too?). Lyrics with MIDI file & NWC file are here (CLICK). |
Subject: Lyr Req: Sheet music for Sunflower song From: nancyjo Date: 04 Nov 03 - 02:51 PM I'm looking for the sheet music for "I'm a Sunflower from the Sunflower State". Can anyone help? TIA nancyjo |
