Subject: RE: Bedworth FF - 29 Nov From: George Papavgeris Date: 06 Dec 03 - 05:52 PM Nothing fair about the share Snuffy consumed on the Saturday. I am sure he had mine too! |
Subject: RE: Bedworth FF - 29 Nov From: My guru always said Date: 06 Dec 03 - 04:41 PM RWJ - thank you so much for your poetic description of Snuffy's acrobatics in the Scout Hut. I wasn't surprised to hear of this adventure the following morning as Snuffy seemed to have consumed his fair share of ale the night before. So glad you've shared it... |
Subject: RE: Bedworth FF - 29 Nov From: Herga Kitty Date: 02 Dec 03 - 01:53 PM Herga has booked Cloudstreet for January too. We found out at last night's AGM that there is a discrepancy (probably attributable to Bob's MS) between Folk London, who think they're on the 19th, and the club programme which says 26th. Johnny Collins rang John and Nicole on his mobile, and they think 26th. Dave and Anni will be at Haddenham next Saturday. Hope to see some Bedduth survivors there. Kitty |
Subject: RE: Bedworth FF - 29 Nov From: Cllr Date: 02 Dec 03 - 08:52 AM Sounds good alan thanks for that. Cllr PS I have booked cloudstreet for ampthill acoustic club in January and Dave and anni in February oh and George and Hilary later this month. |
Subject: RE: Bedworth FF - 29 Nov From: alanww Date: 01 Dec 03 - 08:19 PM Hi Cllr Like most festivals it was good as long as you liked what it did. I certainly enjoyed it - seeing a few of the booked acts, such as Cloudstreet, who were brill at harmonies, and Dave & Anni, who were as good as ever. Most of my time, however, was spent picking up on the fringish music and singing sessions. Some excellent and some good. Great to see many good friends, eg Hil (My guru always said) & Richard, Derek & Mary, Col K, Jude L, Noreen, Terry (Leadfingers), Snuffy (but I usually see him at least 3 days a week anyway!) and many others ... There were very good Sunday sessions with Alhambra (Pete, John & Andy) doing their usual thing over the breakfast period, then a song session running in parallel with a music session hosted by Pete Grassby. But I didn't stay in the scout hut this year - Sandy and I went back to a quiet and warm bed both nights! - so you will have to get feedback from the usual crowd on that! "When you're working through the tunnels - in the dark!" Alan |
Subject: RE: Bedworth FF - 29 Nov From: RWJ Date: 01 Dec 03 - 07:46 PM The scout hut that night was a wonderfull sight full of folkies all compleat with beer the kitchen had gone just one camp stove olone for coffie and tea for good cheer the singnig went on till at least half past one when the party had stated to fail then Suuffy walked on to his camp bed to sleep to foreget his consupsion af ail his bed for the night was on the left you see of that the is no dought but when he got there the the camp bed sead no and spat Suffy streight back out he flew through the air like a man with no care then he hit the far wall with a thud then he dropped down to land on a lady off hand whoes pitch had beed booked long bfore a squeak then came out a terible shout the problem was not hard to see snuffy the flying folk singer had landed where he was not alowed the morrel to this strange story is that free fralling folies beware if yoy need to get ito youre camp bed allways have at least one hand on a chair |

Subject: RE: Bedworth FF - 29 Nov From: Willa Date: 01 Dec 03 - 03:29 PM Didn't notice the wather once things got started; as Melonie said the atmosphere inside was warm! The Red Cross Hut indoor camping was, as listed, 'Quiet' - even the snores were muted. I met lots of 'catters I'd not met before, and renewed old aquaintances. Won't mention any names, or I'm sure to miss someone out, but I heard some great singing/playing. I spent most of my time at singing venues, but enjoyed the Donnelly/McConville/Fox session on Saturday night. Couldn't stay on Sunday, but I hope to be back at Bedworth next year. |
Subject: RE: Bedworth FF - 29 Nov From: Menolly Date: 01 Dec 03 - 02:49 PM The weather started cold, wet and blowy but the atmosphere inside was warm. The town had moved their Christmas lights celebration from the Friday to Saturday this year, so the town was busing with a French Market and small fair ground rides. So parking for late arrivals was very difficult. I was hampered by taking two grandchildren with me but found the "Cool Dudes" club was wonderful and I could not persuade the kids to leave! They are telling me firmly that they are going back next year. And as to the music, although the lineup was down a couple of guests due to illness, the music was great, as usual. My great favourite is the big sing and it did not disappoint - for me, worth going just for that! |

Subject: RE: Bedworth FF - 29 Nov From: Mr Red Date: 26 Nov 03 - 03:03 PM If anyone is still looking for a B&B for Sat night I have had to cancel my booking. I would have had ny caravan Fri anyway. This was told to me by a folkie who uses it every year. Rule and Compasses in Bulkington (Mrs Walker). It's a small pub just down the road from Bedworth, small but clean and comfortable and she does a nice breakfast. Their number is 02476 311948. Don't know if they have fri free but It is worth a try. I do remember drivijng past from the campsite and I reckon it is walkable if you try and the campsite bus goes past if you negotiate a ride. |
