Subject: Spoof folk documentary From: GUEST,Bagpuss Date: 05 Nov 03 - 02:10 PM I may have missed a thread already on this - if so feel free to have this deleted - but I just saw an interview with Harry Shearer (who does loads of Simpson's voices. He was talking about the makers of Spoinal Tap making a spoof documentary about folk musicians. It looked quite funny. Anyone know any more about it? Bagpuss |

Subject: RE: Spoof folk documentary From: McGrath of Harlow Date: 05 Nov 03 - 03:07 PM Here and here I don't think they've released it here yet, and when it does it probably won't get out to us. I'll have to rely on seing it on video or DVD, as with Best in Show. Better than nothing, but films need to be seen on big screens. One festival I go to, at Leigh on Sea in Essex, they have an arrangement with the local film society so they have a folk geared film after the festivial itself has wound down, so maybe they'll get it. |

Subject: RE: Spoof folk documentary From: SeanM Date: 05 Nov 03 - 05:34 PM Highly recommended if you can get it, as the deleted/additional scenes are a combination of great cut moments, songs that didn't make the movie ("Corn Wine" by the Folksmen, a couple Mitch & Mickey numbers including a horribly beautiful murder ballad called "Killington Hill", and a bit of New Main Street for fun). The soundtrack is a thing of beauty as well - "silver tentacles of the moonlight" indeed... M |
