I saw John McEuen in the early 70s in London when he was with The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band. It was a free gig in a pub, and - expecting a big crowd - I arrived an hour before the doors opened. When the doors finally opened, I was in a queue of one! Anyway, the band was great, and I was particularly impressed with John charging from one side of the stage to the other while playing the fiddle. I used to like his column in the sadly long defunct " Frets" mag.

If you are hesitant to go to this one, I am letting you know that you must NOT hesitate. This is a relatively new series in the San Diego area and the presenter has really worked very hard to put on these concerts.

It would be great for this person if folks came out and let people know about his series.

Besides, John McEuen is a legend!

disclaimer: I do not know the presenter at all, I actually live on the opposite side of the country, but he has shared some of the frustrations of trying to present good acoustic music in a public forum I subscribe to.

Hi:

Deb just emailed me with the link to this site, at which I see her post and that of a few others. I'm the presenter of this concert -- part of a still new series that has had four great concerts, with each one outdrawing the last. John will be the biggest name and, I hope, draw the biggest crowd.

I'd encourage anyone in the San Diego area to check out my web site and email me to get on my mailing list. If I can answer any questions, please email me directly -- or call.

I doubt if I'll be able to join and participate in this forum. As it is, trying to get this series rolling has been the equivalent of two full time jobs -- and for zero pay (and don't even ask about the expenses:-)

Carey

Second show? Hey, I'm presenting the concert, and as far as I know, there's only one show.

A friend of mine used to do some PR work for John McEuen, so I have had the pleasure of visiting with him a little bit. He's a genius and a real nice guy. Go see him if you have a chance.
