Subject: Lyr Req: Violent Femmes TEN From: wysiwyg Date: 06 Nov 03 - 09:25 AM Pssst-- look, I'm sorry, don't tell my folkie friends-- sometimes we like the VF over here-- anyway, I can't find this anywhere, and I am not sure of the title, but if you have heard the song you know the one I mean and it's a VERY GOOD SONG for a VERY BAD MOOD. The tape appears to have left with the nest-exiting children! So I'd love a sound file too! And maybe we're not the only Catters with a sick twist! ~S~ |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Violent Femmes TEN From: SeanM Date: 06 Nov 03 - 05:09 PM Is it the one that has the "ten, ten, ten, ten for everything everything everything" in it? If so, that one's called "Kiss Off". Not sure where to get a sound file, but it's on their first album, titled "Violent Femmes" Interesting band. Very folk roots - most of their work is structured around acoustic guitar, acoustic bass and brushed snare. Second album includes two gospel numbers - "It's Gonna Rain" and "Jesus Walking on the Water". The lead singer's the son of a Baptist minister, and is apparently fairly devoutly Christian. In other areas, they've gone so far as well as to set 15th century poetry to music. I'm rather fond of them, if'n you can't tell :^) I'm fairly impressed with the fact that coming on 20 years after the release of their first album, it still strikes a chord of adolescent angst among the kids hearing it for the first time as well as still remains somewhat relevant to the original fans who heard it on vinyl. Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Violent Femmes TEN From: Clinton Hammond Date: 06 Nov 03 - 05:27 PM We play "Blister" all the time... it's hillarious... With no intro at all, with no warning, at any point in our show we can play the first 16 notes, and automoatically the audience hits the table "Da-da! Da-da!" I assume the song in question however is "Kiss Off" ( - Lyrics Here - ) and I found all kinds of copies of it with a quick Kazaa search... so it's that easy to get... :-) |
