Subject: Lyr Req: Guy Davis Lyrics From: GUEST,Peter Arnesen Date: 12 Nov 03 - 03:42 AM I am a norwegian, extremely fond of american prewar (delta) blues. Some of the old stuff is difficult to transcribe for a non-native english speaker, but thanks to some people in Edinburgh (Scotland) there is a series of books available with most of the lyrics found on the Yazoo-labels. Some of the contemporary performers offers an identical challenge to non-natives, c.f Guy Davis. Please can somebody tell me what this excellent performer is singin in the last verse on "Georgia Jelly Roll"? Thanks a lot! |

Subject: Lyr Add: GEORGIA JELLY ROLL (Guy Davis) From: Jim Dixon Date: 15 Nov 03 - 11:38 AM Guy Davis performed Georgia Jelly Roll on the Prairie Home Companion show November 21, 1998. You can find the archived performance here. GEORGIA JELLY ROLL (Guy Davis, 1989) I don't know, I've been told, People down in Georgia got the jellyroll. CHORUS: All right, that's all over town. It makes your feet start jumping and you just can't put it down. People in the east break it down. People out west shake it all around. CHORUS Daddy got the Caddy. Mama got the Ford. Little kids riding on the running board. CHORUS Move your legs side to side. Roll your eyes. Throw your arms out wide. CHORUS [(c) Medicine Hand Music (BMI). On the album "Call Down the Thunder," Red House Records, 1989.] |
