Subject: RE: South Yorkshire Carols From: JohnB Date: 14 Dec 04 - 10:30 AM In a slight displacement ot Tradition, the Orange Peel Carolers (Orangeville is about 50 miles from Toronto Ontario Canada)sang several of the same carols including our first puplic kick at "Hail Smiling Morn" at the "Golden Kiwi" (owned by an ex New Zealander) in Cambridge (yeah the Ontario one) last Sunday. We had a great time, it's our third year at it now. Our audience loved it too. I guess we have a few years to go to catch up with the rest of you :) JohnB |

I also had problems getting enough beer. Good job I ordered two at the start and again later on. These two problems are not unconnected. MC Fat now has the local bus drivers trained to stop outside the pub. There was some wonderful singing and (Sue the organist) went through the carols at record pace. We probably got an extra one in thanks to that. A really good season I felt and I managed to make every one (though I shall be missing Dec 28th so my seat will be up for grabs. But we got there in time for the start. I was glad to add my voice to the basses, but it gets pretty inaudible on the really low notes. We had a wonderful time (as usual), but I did miss the draught Guinness and Jacob's Well. |

Get on Yellow Route Tram to Middlewood. Step 3. Get off at Hillsborough and go to Bus Station opposite. Step 4. Get on 11.00a.m. Number 61 bus which does a circular route and drops you off at the Royal at around 11.20a.m. Step 5. Join the queue. Tram ticket about £2.20 bus £1 each way. |

I think we paid about 20$Can we have friend with relatived in Ottawa so zero postage. The JoC has 90 songs, I think they are all in 4 part. It has at least 15 versions of "While Shepherds" last years cost was 5 Pounds UK. That is about 12.50 $Can then you add the postage. It is a pretty big book and postage will probably at least double that price. There is some duplication book to book, although the CPC has some not in the JoC and Viccy Versy. Well I have finally experienced the carols - reminded me of when I was a kid - in the village I was born in, and subsequently spent many hols with my gran, Sundays the whole village turned out to church ( you only missed if you were dead or dying) and then the men went to the pub while the women went home to cook - the men carried on with singing carols before returning home half cut at closing time for arguments and Sunday lunch - ah fond memories!! Mcfat next year perhaps you will take me for the famous Sunday lunch at Fagans and I can compare that too!! |

And if you are a mudcatter (there were at least two of the Shellbacks there last weekend) then make yourself known to MC FAT who stands next to the bar near to the kitchen and cannot be mistaken and/or myself.
