Subject: Tech: Recording from BBC Radio site From: Michael Date: 16 Nov 03 - 11:37 AM I want to copy an interview from a previous edition of a BBC Radio programme (from the BBC website)- (so that I can play it to someone who is not on the net). I can't work out how to do it, can anyone help? Thanks, Mike |
Subject: RE: Tech: Recording from BBC Radio site From: Nigel Parsons Date: 16 Nov 03 - 11:40 AM If all else fails put the microphone from your recorder in front of the speaker. (if it's just an interview why go Hi-tech if lo-tech is so simple?) Nigel |
Subject: RE: Tech: Recording from BBC Radio site From: Mr Red Date: 16 Nov 03 - 12:12 PM Most sound recorder software has a record "combined output" setting. You will just have to look at all the menu items and Tabs and options till you find it - Soundblaster software has the options and so does the MS Recorder if I remember correctly. I would counsel that you do not attempt any surfing while the Realplayer is getting the bytes. I have done this and can verify the effect of heavy PC/web usage, it will create drop-outs. But it recorded. (I use Win 98) |
Subject: RE: Tech: Recording from BBC Radio site From: GUEST Date: 16 Nov 03 - 12:26 PM if you want it to tape/minidisc etc..... use the headphone output direct to your cassette etc input. I record the folk programme direct into sound forge from the beebs net site - then save as an MP3 for future reference. if you want a better copy contact the beeb - all programmes etc are archived. |

Subject: RE: Tech: Recording from BBC Radio site From: Bill D Date: 16 Nov 03 - 02:14 PM there are several programs which will record streaming media... This one may do what you need (free, but not very small) |

Subject: RE: Tech: Recording from BBC Radio site From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 16 Nov 03 - 04:39 PM The stream from the BBC, and other sources, often have little breaks, and sometimes go off-tone for a period, so I have never tried to make cds. The signal is good only as a record of the event. Agreeing with Nigel, taping with a mic seems the easiest as it is unlikely that quality of sound will be there, and after a time, when interest is lost, the tape can be recorded over with new material. |
Subject: RE: Tech: Recording from BBC Radio site From: Malcolm Douglas Date: 16 Nov 03 - 04:55 PM Having insufficient hard drive space nowadays to record to disk, I've had perfectly acceptable results taking a line out from the soundcard to a VCR (the lead won't go as far as the cassette deck). |
Subject: RE: Tech: Recording from BBC Radio site From: Dreadnought Date: 16 Nov 03 - 05:12 PM Here are two applications you might find interesting: Replay Radio should do the job but only works really well if you are on broadband. Total Recorder from High Criteria could also be useful. As with the suggestion from Bill D nether are free but they only cost a trivial fee to register and are well worth checking out. |
