Subject: Janis Ian on Chet Atkins and.... From: Peter T. Date: 22 Nov 03 - 08:50 PM Janis Ian is not only a great singer, but is a terrific writer as well. I discovered that she has put a whole series of her fine articles on her web site. Maybe the best (apart from the hilarious one on her lesbian fantasies about Joan Baez) is her tribute to Chet Atkins: to be found at ---- http://www.janisian.com/article-chet_atkins.html There is also a great story about the loss of her beloved Martin guitar. yours, Peter T. |
Subject: RE: Janis Ian on Chet Atkins and.... From: GUEST,pdq Date: 22 Nov 03 - 09:44 PM Very nice statement about Chet Atkins and southern hospitality. Reminds me of this interview of Maria Muldaur. Check out her description of the Watson family and her learning the fiddle: http://www.digitalinterviews.com/digitalinterviews/views/muldaur.shtml |
Subject: RE: Janis Ian on Chet Atkins and.... From: GUEST,Frankham Date: 23 Nov 03 - 12:15 PM Janis is a highly talented musician. I think she plays about ten or twelve musical instruments. I taught her to play some bluegrass banjo and she picked it up and was playing well in about a week! Janis is multi-talented. She probably can pick some Chet as well. Frank Hamilton |
