Mark-
Don't know an original source, but I can testify that the song--at least portions of it---predated The Bosses Songbook by at least a decade.

And the last verse Dick is;

If you hate the working class, but you want to save your ass,
You'd better give your money to the poor,
Or we'll sell your mothers twat to some some sailor on your yacht,
And we will turn your favorite daughter to a whore.

Recorded by Pat Sky on SONGS THAT MADE AMERICA FAMOUS. The original version can be found in that wonderful collection THE BOSSES SONGBOOK. I think that Patrick updated it a bit.

THE RIBALD REBEL'S SONG (Fight For Liberation)

In the draft board here we sit
Covered o'er with Nixon's shit
While our sweat is turning Agnew's filthy mill
And the people, as they pass
They jam Melvin up our ass
Well I guess we've had our goddam fucking fill

Cho: Fight, fight, fight for liberation
Break, break, break the social scheme
We will drag the bastards down
And we'll grind 'em in the ground
And replace them with a working class regime

Then we'll send a firing squad
After Cardinal Spellman's God
Henry Kissinger will be the next in line
Then we'll pump some LSD
Into Jackie Kennedy
And we'll make her fuck the workers' overtime

Then we'll get a bloody rope
And we'll hang the fuckin' pope
And we'll burn the Sistine Chapel to the ground
Then we'll turn our tommy-guns
On the screaming, ravished nuns
And the peoples' voice will be the only sound

We have an Anarchist Marching Band in Pittsburgh. It strikes me as a bit of an oxymoron, but I have heard, seen and smelled them. They don't sound bad.

There are, heaven knows, plenty of IWW songs. If the wobblies count as anarchists.

Seems to me that John Lennon wrote some stuff that was pretty anarchistic in nature. It's not folk, but....

How about "Why Don't We Do It In The Road", "Revolution #9", and "Working Class Hero"?

It's very simple on utube to move the curser on to the song if you are not interested in how he came to write it leeneia.

Actually I think you'll find, Mr Continuity Jones, that it's called 'Spades, Hoes & Plows' not 'ploughs' as you so ignorantly posted above. It's on Invada Records.

There's a new album of anarchist folk songs called Spades, Hoes & Ploughs just been released by the Welsh folksong singer David Wrench. I only heard one song on the radio, Blackleg Miner, but it sounded very interesting. I'd say it's at the other end of the folk music scale from K Rusby, L McKeenit, J Moray et all.

here's richard bridges with another ignorant and uneducated posting. only right wingers think anarchists don't have rules. they don't have coercive relationships, but lots of rules if you have evr been a member of a collective,

as to songs, try the little red song book by the iww. they have many editions but republished every song ever in the bookma few years back.

anything by utah phillips

the canadian band sabotabby wereagreat anarchist group.

any oof the grreat union organizer joe hills songs.

and in europe there is a whole other tradition with songs in many langusges.

the little red song book is the easiest to find

Somebody should write a song about Saint Emma.

Her associate, Leon Czolgosz was indicated in
the McKinley ballad and may have been mentioned in a verse here and there.

"McKinley, he cried, McKinley he squalled,
The doctor said, "McKinley, I can't find that pistol ball"

Tried that, Dick Greenhaus, but I got a '404 Not Found' message for the midi.

(Kind of beside the point - I can never really translate how a song sounds in actuality from a midi file; something about the rhythm.)

When Serge and I were young we went to love in Omsk
And there we spent our time making great big beautiful bomsk

Then Serge and I grew up we went to live in Tomsk,
And there we spent our time making great big beautiful bomsk.

Then Serge and I were caught and exiled to Murmansk,
And there we spent our time making revolutionary plansk

But we shall not forget our revolutionary plot
And we shall not forget our exiled comrade Trottt-skiiii.

Here is a nursery rhyme from the 1600's.

They hang the man and flog the woman
who steals the goose from off the common.
But let the greater criminal loose
who steals the common from the goose.
They say we must atone
when we take things we do not own.
But leave the Lords and Ladies fine
when they take things that are yours and mine.

This was during the time of Bloody Bess' "Enclosure Laws", that allowed the commons to be split up and claimed by the rich..

Subject: Lyr Add: JOHN BALL (Sydney Carter)
From: Herga Kitty
Date: 26 Nov 03 - 07:14 PM

It may have been pulled from the DT, but Sidney Carter's "John Ball" has been floating around in threads.

JOHN BALL
(Sydney Carter)

Who will be the lady,
Who will be the lord,
When we are ruled
By the love of another? Tell me,
Who will be the lady,
Who will be the lord,
In the light that is coming
In the morning.

Chorus
Sing, John Ball
And tell it to them all -
Long live the day that is dawning!
And I'll crow like a cock,
I'll carol like a lark,
For the light that is coming
In the morning.

Eve is the lady,
Adam is the lord,
When we are ruled
By the love of another, oh it's
Eve is the lady,
Adam is the lord,
In the light that is coming
In the morning.

Chorus

All shall be ruled
By fellowship I say,
All shall be ruled
By the love of one another,
All shall be ruled
By fellowship I say,
In the light that is coming
In the morning.

Chorus

Labour and spin
For fellowship I say,
Labour and spin
For the love of one another.
Labour and spin
For fellowship I say,
And the light that is coming
In the morning.

I agree with David The anarcho-syndicalist I met was a complete pacifist based (I think) on the presumtion that a utopia based on those principles would, to work by its own internal logic, be non confrontational on a physical level. Also "love one another" is the one ony the main planks of any humanist or religious idealogy. Cllr
