Not 'all well' yet, but definitely on the mend. Possibly because I slept 20 hrs yesterday. Managed to get the dishwasher run today, and go to the store. Think it's couch potato time. I'm ready to be All Well so I can see Owen.....I miss the little bugger!

Slow and steady does it lass. I learned the hard way from my round of pneumonia that lung stuff makes you feel like the walking dead AND takes a long slow ramp-up back to relative normalcy. (Don't press me on that, now! :>))

Well, staph is an Opportunist. It's always out there, looking for people with run down immune systems, tired, already sick, etc. So it went on the attack.

Feeling a bit better, was in chat for a little while last night, but still tired, tired. Always sleepy and run out of gas real quick. Hopefully, another week will do it...I still think I could sleep the clock round, but have done nearly that for a week. Time to get a least a little bit done, but nothing strenuous.

Talked to our Scorchy today. Sounds awful, and has half a brain when awake. TV is too much to follow, so audio books are out. Anyone have a spare masseuse we can wrap up and send her? Or maybe masseur....

Good to hear you're feeling better. I returned to work Thursday but Natasha (Nitecreture) will be off for a while - currently taking 24 antibiotics a day!!!! Hope to see you in the chatroom soon.

Sorry to be late, Sorch, but I'd like to recommend that in the future you have in the home the following: Astragalus (470mg), Elderberry extract and herbal tea.

If you feel something *comin' on* then:

***Astragalus (470mg) 2 pills, 3 times per day with food***

***Elderberry extract, 40 drops, 3 times a day with food***

***Herbal tea, 3 times a day with or without food***

(Note: Keep up until symptoms quit. In most cases this and rest will stop the bug in its tracks. If it doesn't, it will shorten it's duration and minimalize thew symtoms...)

If cold symptoms (sinus, post nasal drip, sneezing, runny nose, etc.) exist:

Cold-ezze with Zinc + the above..........

This works!!!!!!!!!......................

Sorcha, so glad to see you are home and on the mend, albeit slowly. Take care not to overdo it, or you could be back in hospital for Christmas dinner too!

Pet the dogs as often as you can, it's good for the blood pressure and mostly they know when they can be bouncy and when to be calm.

Sorchadarlin'....I've a few choice words for Them, but I'll spare them a scorching, for the moment! (Remember some of those talks we've had?)**bg** I did speak to Brian the day you went in hospital and your hospital roomie a couple of times when you were sleeping. Sounds to me like you need to visit a Mudcatter's Nurturing Centre to get really well rested and healed, but we'll do the best we can to see you well healed there. I am still in Casper with the redheaded grandson and mom, as well as uncle. We leave in a week or two with the grandson and mom to go home. I'll give you a ring in a day or two. Don't mess around with this...do everything the docs say and then some and to hell with the rest of them, as you say.

I love you and am sorry I am come so late to your thread. I don't like to tie up the phone line, nor use my son's computer, too much.

No, you all got it backward--I finally called Dr. and said, put me in hospital, ain't getting no help here. He did actually take me there tho,and I stayed 3 days. I feel 'better' but not well. Yes, I am being VERY careful and go to bed at the drop of a hat. Looks like an enforced hospital stay is the way to stop smoking......haven't had one since Tues and don't even want one. (Just as well the shape the lungs are in with staph.) Bad part is, that when they brought my meds for me to bring home, they missed the anitbugotic.....I can't/won't drive, so will have to send 'someone' up after it when 'someone' is available....I NEED this stuff. Going back to bed now.

As some of you know, Sorcha posted a "Sorcha Sick" thread a few days ago at Mudcat, saying Thanksgiving would be cancelled, that she would be offline a few days, and was sick with staph in lungs AND influenza. (http://www.mudcat.org/thread.cfm?threadid=64754)

Then I heard about a virulent and deadly form of the influenza running amok in Colorado (100 miles south of her), and got VERY worried...

I spoke with Brian, her husband, late this afternoon (Eastern US time). She does indeed have the nasty strain of influenza I had heard about, BAD stuff. She had thought she would be able to recuperate better at home, but he said he had found it necessary to hospitalize her (vomiting, etc., very dehydrated, partly from the medications). He said he had just brought her home this afternoon, to resume recuperation, and she is doing better. But I am still very, very worried. The meds are working on the staph, but since ifluenza is viral, she has to fight it off her own small, tired, chronically-stressed self.

Brian has agreed to let me know if she takes another bad turn. So now, no-news will be just no-news, not cause for increased concern.

Stay quite, keep rested and warm, let others do for you, and don't worry about staph like Thanksgiving -- you can staph the turkey later. There'll be more to be thankful for when you're all better.

My brother's favorite cure: take a quart of the cheapest, worst, most paint-peeling whiskey you can find. Dissolve a whole 12 oz. package of Hall's Mentho-Lyptus cough drops in it (note to the UK and elsewhere: if you don't have these, they are menthol and ecalyptus flavored and taste absolutely awful). Then sit back and tell yourself that if you don't get better you'll make yourself drink some of it.

Anything I can send that'll help?

Well, I'm wondering what it says about us addicts that in spite of high fever, double vision, recent return from hospital (Don't post to this one, just read it) some of us seek out Mudcat and are still able to crawl up to the keyboard...

Either we are an extremely vibrant community with so much to offer those who participate regularly on so many levels...or we're all just nucking futs!!!!!! {or more than a little of both}.

WEll,I,m home from hospital. Still weak as a kitten, un coordinated, feel like a limberjack toy but I'm home. Yes, I will be behaving and no, they didn't "do" for me. Came home from 3 days in hospital to even more messes, but they can go to hell. Do one or 2 things, sleep 2 hrs. I'ved averaged 22 hrs sleep a day since Wed. Plan to keep it up as long as necessary. Won't be here much, but will try to check in. Fingers forgot where type keys are.....and I'm awfully 'shakey'. Thanks, guys.

My naturopath swears by a mixture of lemon, ginger and chili powder in water as hot as you can stand it. It packs quite a punch - it would be a strong germ that could live through this.

Of course, staph is a serious one, so the drugs and all the advice about rest etc should do the trick. I would also say don't start trying to do too much when you start to feel better. Take it easy and be kind to yourself for a bit longer than you feel you really need to, so that you don't suffer any relapses.
