Subject: RE: Any Midweek sessions/clubs nr Tring? From: treewind Date: 28 Nov 03 - 06:26 AM Song and tunes session 2nd Wednesday of the month, The Fox at Pirton, just W. of Hitchin. Not terribly local to Tring but probably no further than we have to travel to get there from near Newmarket. Mick Brooks (fiddler and caller) is into sessions and lives in Aylesbury. He might be able to help if you can find out how to contact him. The Tudor Folk club is in Chesham which is easy to get to from Tring (I assume you have wheels!). Every Monday. Mudcat's own Hamish is involved in the running of it. Anahata |

Subject: RE: Any Midweek sessions/clubs nr Tring? From: pavane Date: 30 Nov 03 - 12:18 PM I went to Herga in 1971! Saw Huw Rippon, Dransfields & Packy Byrne (is that right) there. |
Subject: RE: Any Midweek sessions/clubs nr Tring? From: breezy Date: 30 Nov 03 - 12:58 PM yes, now you get Johnny Collins, Graeme Knights, George Papavgeris, new singer -songwriter whose songs are performed by Vin garbutt,Roy bailey ,Andy irvine Me, and Kitty vernon and we have a laugh and a joke, and great harmonies on choruses, probably the best in the country when all are present, so its not as heavy a scene as once perceived and everyone is welcomed and invited to sing on singers nights like this Monday. Then there's Mike Sparks, George Clarke, New voice Connelly Are you away at the w/end then? |
Subject: RE: Any Midweek sessions/clubs nr Tring? From: Hamish Date: 01 Dec 03 - 04:48 AM Singaround at Tudor Folk Club (Chesham) tonight. Link as per Anahata's earlier reply (thanks!) Easy reach from Watford. But then again, so's Herga. Take yer pick. Both good clubs. Try 'em both!!! (But prolly not on the same night). Mind you, Chesham's much easier from Tring. |
Subject: RE: Any Midweek sessions/clubs nr Tring? From: GUEST,Ross Date: 01 Dec 03 - 06:21 AM Barton's cross country and probably difficult to reach But we are completely bonkers |
Subject: RE: Any Midweek sessions/clubs nr Tring? From: GUEST,PAVANE Date: 01 Dec 03 - 07:59 AM Hi, Monday is not really a good evening for me, as I get up very early to travel from West Wales to Watford for work, so am a bit cream-crackered by evening. I then go back to Tring where I am staying during the week. But I will try to get to Chesham while I am down here |

Subject: RE: Any Midweek sessions/clubs nr Tring? From: GUEST Date: 01 Dec 03 - 11:18 AM Well, I usually start by playing Ty Coch Caerdydd and Machynlleth (did I spell that right?), but (as a Londoner born & bred), dim Cymraig. PS I think Herga was where I first encountered Oranjeboom lager, in 1971. My Dutch girlfriend of the time spotted it there. Also saw the Herga Morris then. |
