Subject: Tune Req: Mummer's Jig, Boys of the Lough From: bfolkemer Date: 30 Nov 03 - 05:07 PM Can anyone direct me to an abc or midi file, or online image that shows the music for "Mummer's Jig," as it is performed on Boy's of the Lough, Midwnter's Night's Dream (a.k.a. the Day Dawn) CD? It is a great favorite of my 14-yr .-old son, and I'd like to surprise him. I have found another tune by the same name (also Tom Coen) but it doesn seem to be the same music. I found an abc file for "Christmas Eve." It seems close, but if anyone has something they know is very accurate, please let me know. My son was going to see the Boy's of the Lough with me, last March, in Harrisburg, PA, USA, but was knocked over by a migraine. On occasion he is helping with sound for our group. I'm eager to encourage his interest in tradtional music. Thank you! Beth |

Subject: RE: Tune Req: Mummer's Jig, Boys of the Lough From: GUEST,dewunsch@ieee.org Date: 30 Nov 03 - 11:18 PM There is a fiddle tune called The Day Dawn, by the Shetland Island Fiddler Tom Anderson. Its on the LP called "Da Silver Bow" with Allie Bain, Tom Anderson, and other fiddlers. Above is from memory, I didn't look it up. It might not be entirely correct. Somewhere I have a copy of the LP. I could make a tape or CD for you. dew |
