The performance of Fire and Sleet and Candlelight - Carols, traditions and stories of the English midwinter with Coope Boyes & Simpson, Fi Fraser, Jo Freya and Georgina Boyes on the 20th December at The Recital Room, Lakeside Arts Centre, University Park, Nottingham is already sold out, so the Arts Centre have added an extra date -

We've also been asked to include a Carols Workshop on the evening of the Shropshire performance of Fire and Sleet and Candlelight on the 16th December at Walcot Hall Ballroom, Lydbury North - contact information as follows -

Late Junction (BBC Radio 3) have also confirmed that they'll be including a section of material from the live recording of the launch concert for the album of Fire and Sleet and Candlelight (No Masters NMCD21) recorded at Folk in the Fall on Monday 8th December, with additional single tracks being included in programmes in coming weeks up to Christmas. Late Junction is also available via the web.

wow that sounds great. I wish I could be there! Do they have any recordings of this sort of music (midwinter)? I have heard this group is wonderful.

Peg - Thanks for your comments. There is an album of midwinter songs and carols many of which are included in the words and music performance, it's also called "Fire and Sleet and Candlelight" (NMCD21). Details are on our website and if I could only have worked out how to do the blue clicky things, you could have got straight there from my mail. Until I sort out the technology, you'll have to enter the address to see what's there. Yours - some fingers but more thumbs - Georgina

Hi Georgina. Thanks for the update! There's a bunch of your friends in DC who are eager to order the "Fire & Sleet" CD. Is there a way to do it by credit card from the NoMasters site, or do we need to rely on Dick Greenhaus and Camsco for our U.S. supply? Good luck with the tour. The Fire and Sleet and Candlelight CD is wonderful - it gets me quite emotional actually. I've chosen it for my CD of the month for December, and I played a track on Sounds of Folk last night. I'm now almost ready for Christmas!!

I bought the Garland of Carols after seeing you all at Nellies (White Horse Folk Club) 3 or 4 years ago. It's still quintessential listening material in my house. Wish you were back this year, roasting in front of the fire...!

Yes, I remember - carollers roasting by an open fire. They know how to celebrate Christmas at Nellies.
