Subject: Review: Anne Lennox-Martin From: Micca Date: 05 Dec 03 - 06:06 AM Well!!! what can I say?!! went to Maidenhead FC here in the UK last night to hear a singer I last heard sing about 25 years ago and, if anything, she was Better (by a long way, and she was superb then)than I remembered, a Superb Voice with a range to have me reaching for a dictionary for superlatives. From a mind-blowing version of "Sugar in my Bowl" to the Incredible " St James Infirmary" through a stunning version of "Hard Times come again no more"(with Tony and Pearl as backing group)to the Odetta medley all served to simply and amply illustrate that the great voice is in fine fettle. Wonderful!! If you get the chance to see/hear this incredibly gifted lady grab it with both hands she is the tops, truly a great voice. I understand a CD may be in the planning!! Many thanks to Tony (The Admiral) and Pearl for making us welcome too, a truly splendid evening |

Subject: RE: Review: Anne Lennox-Martin From: Leadfingers Date: 05 Dec 03 - 12:55 PM The joys of being paid to miss good evenings in one of your regular clubs!! And of course it ran late too. Got there in time to say good night to Anne after her last song and encore. |

Subject: RE: Review: Anne Lennox-Martin From: Herga Kitty Date: 05 Dec 03 - 03:25 PM No openmike, it isn't the Annie Lennox who used to be in Eurythmics. Anne Lennox-Martin used to visit us at Herga sometimes in the 1970s and 80s, and wow us with the songs Micca mentions, and music hall songs too. And she sings a mean version of "Queen Jane lay in labour". And she's just joined Mudcat! Kitty |
