Contemporary North American folk artists, Tom Flannery (USA) & Lorne Clarke (Canada) have created an absolutely free music site where they have committed to post up a minimum of one new, original song per week. Launched in April 2003 they have now served up over 10,000 MP3 downloads with more visitors dropping in every day.

In the days of travelling minstrels, the topical songs were passed on via the oral tradition... now we have the web - and songaweek.com.

Songs are primarily topical in nature (war, poverty, civil rights etc) with a smattering of story songs thrown into the mix. Search by author, category - or just browse the song list at http://www.songaweek.com

No fees, no sign ups, no personal info required - just drop in and help yourself to a selection of more than 100 songs - with new songs added weekly.

Sorry about the confusion regarding the thread title -- but folk music people should know better...
The tunes are worth listening to though!
