Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Hold Me Parson From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 10 Dec 03 - 12:08 PM Thanks, Jim. Looks like the two songs may be related, although the first was a coon song. I think I will buy the cds- Lizzie had a wicked sense of humor. |

Subject: RE: Lyr Req: Hold Me Parson From: Jim Dixon Date: 09 Dec 03 - 11:52 PM I was able to transcribe this much from a 1-minute sound sample at Barnes & Noble: HOLD ME PARSON Now, hold me, parson, hold me, 'cause I feel my 'ligion comin' on. You better take me down to the river an' wash my sins away. I can hear that choir singin'. I love it more each day. Now I know I'm talkin' queer. Hold me, parson dear. I feel my 'ligion comin' on. Ah, hold me, hold me, parson, hold me, 'Cause I feels my 'ligion comin' on.... From Lizzie Miles: "Complete Recorded Works, Vol. 3 (1928-39)," Document CD 5460, 1996. |

Subject: Lyr Req: Hold Me Parson From: Q (Frank Staplin) Date: 07 Dec 03 - 10:24 PM I am looking for two songs: "Hold Me Parson, Hold Me, I Feel Religion Coming On," ca. 1909, by T. Russel Robinson. "Hold Me Parson." Sung by Lizzie Miles (and others), 1930s. On Document's vol. 3 of Lizzie Miles. This one may be derived from the first. I would greatly appreciate the lyrics. |
