Subject: RE: Thanks, Dharmabum!!! From: wysiwyg Date: 08 Dec 03 - 09:01 PM This December, PBS will be airing A Gospel Bluegrass Homecoming hosted by Bill Gaither and Marty Stuart (check your local listings). The show was taped last December at Fisk University in Nashville. Featured: Dr. Ralph Stanley and the Clinch Mountain Boys, Ricky Skaggs, the Del McCoury Band, Jake Hess, the The Isaacs, the The Nitty Gritty Dirt Band and others. If you miss the TV airing, the program is available on DVD, VHS, CD and cassette and can be ordered online. Producers' description: Bluegrass, or mountain music, was born in the hills of Appalachia in the early part of the 20th Century and gradually made its way into the pews of churches all throughout America. Along with gospel music, it has become a unique and treasured American art form. Now the legends of bluegrass music join voices and instruments with the best in gospel music for a remarkable three-part series hosted by Gospel Music Hall of Famer Bill Gaither and contemporary bluegrass banner-carrier, Marty Stuart. CLICK HERE for source. SONGS INCLUDED SOUND CLIPS Also in December, PBS will begin airing "Classic Gospel Hosted by Bill Gaither," a 26-part weekly series of one-hour specials featuring "the harmony and spirit of gospel music as performed by the pioneering and contemporary greats of this distinctly American musical genre," according to a press release. REVIEW: Loved it. Pfui, ~Susan PS, I will try to post lyrics. (Any requests?) Anyone have any for tracks listed, that are not already posted here at Mudcat or in DT? |

Subject: RE: Thanks, Dharmabum!!! - Gospel Bluegrass Homeco From: Burke Date: 09 Dec 03 - 07:41 PM I searched my local PBS web site & did not find it scheduled. I did see there's something on about Jewish Cantoring in a few minutes that I want to catch so I'm off. PBS.org didn't seem to have anything on it either. |
