Subject: RE: Review: Waterson / Carthy From: Dave Sutherland Date: 13 Dec 03 - 10:38 AM It was great to see them doing a lot of seasonal material last Sunday(7th)when they started this current tour at Traditions at the Tiger. Harmonies were joyous and Killen's solo spot was worth the admission alone. Looking forward to seeing them at The Flowerpot, Derby on Thursday(18th) |
Subject: RE: Review: Waterson / Carthy From: Ed. Date: 12 Dec 03 - 01:31 PM why aren't their CDs superb? In my opinion they are... Especially the eponymous debut, with the latest 'A Dark Light' not far behind. Thanks for the reminder, VIN. I'd forgotten that they were touring. I'll try to get tickets for Southport. Ed |

Subject: RE: Review: Waterson / Carthy From: Peterr Date: 11 Dec 03 - 12:10 PM I went to see them a few months ago. We don't often get 'names' in the far south-west (though it's getting better). I went because it was them and being a cynical old bggr expected not to be impressed. I'm very happy to say they were superb. ( very impressed by Tim van Eycken, and must get a CD of Dr Faustus.) And what a treat for Vin to have Killen as well. |
Subject: Review: Waterson / Carthy From: VIN Date: 11 Dec 03 - 08:53 AM Must tell, went to see the Watersons last night in Birkenhead - absolutely cracking they were. The harmonies were the best i've heard in ages, able and abetted by suprise guest - the great Louie Killen. He joined the Watersons on several numbers and did a short set of his own in't second half including a geordie version of the Christmas story, brill!. |
