Subject: Hiders in Holes - Songs for Saddam From: The Shambles Date: 14 Dec 03 - 01:31 PM Hiders In Holes by The Shambles These hiders from light Talk boldly of fight They tell an unconvincing story These hiders in caves Send young men to their graves To die, they believe in glory What is this cause? These holy wars! You may choose to pay the ultimate price But do the misused? Have the right to choose? Those who will share their sacrifice? These hiders in holes These sellers of souls These market dealers in doom Hiders behind skirts They nurture their hurts With arms that reach out from the gloom Why the cry? An eye for an eye! That retribution be both swift and ruthless? Is it the master plan? That each and every land Be filled with the blinded and the toothless? These hiders can lie The dark blinding their eyes Safe from those that would kill them These hiders may hide They're safe inside Let them have their holes . . . and then fill them © Roger Gall 2001 |

Subject: RE: Hiders in Holes - Songs for Saddam From: GUEST Date: 15 Dec 03 - 06:47 AM Richard and Linda Thompson - "Mole in A Hole" "I want to be a mole in a hole digging low and slow/I want to be a fly flying high in the sky." Being as the first didn't work I'd assume the second was the better option. |

Subject: RE: Hiders in Holes - Songs for Saddam From: GUEST Date: 16 Dec 03 - 11:58 PM My friend Karen Everson and I do a book of cartoons, that comes out in August. We ended our last one with WHAT REALLY HAPPENED TO SADDAM HUSSEIN and a picture of a frog with a moustache saying, "The Mother of All Ribbits". He must have been turned back because the other frogs complained. |

Whistle up yer dog and loaden up yer gun… Away to Tikrit, we'll have great fun… He's in here, boys, the hole's wore slick… Run here, Sam, with yer forked stick!… Git down, Sam, and in there peep… Fer I think I see him sound asleep… Stand back, boys, and let's be wise… Fer I think I see his beaded eyes… Hold them dogs, boys, don't let' em howl… I thought I heerd Old Saddam growl… Run back, Sam, cut a long pole… Let's roust this bugger right out of his hole… Back came Sam with a ten-foot pole… He roused it in Old Saddam's hole… Now work, boys, work, dig that loam… We'll bring Old Saddam's bacon home… I heerd 'im give a whistle, heerd 'im give a wail… As I wound my stick right in his tail… Stand back, boys and gi' me some air… I've got Saddam by his old short hairs… Up steps Bush with a snigger and a squeak… "So much for Dean on the cover of Newsweek!"… Cheerily, Charley Noble |

Subject: RE: Hiders in Holes - Songs for Saddam From: GUEST,reggie miles Date: 20 Dec 03 - 12:16 PM Ace of Spades Where will you find a dic-tater, when he's cast from his ivory tower? Uprooted from his throne, he'll be hiding all alone, holed up like a sad damn old coward. In a root cellar's where he will cower For months they hunted and sought him, they searched everywhere all around. When finally found, in his hole in the ground, they surrounded his spidery plot, And dug him up without firing a shot A dic-tater just doesn't keep well, in a hole way down deep in the ground. He'll be bearded and ripe, from suckin' air through a pipe, that ace of spades will be smelling quite sour, And very badly in need of a shower And how did he keep warm while down there, in his dark dirty place in the sand? He feathered his nest, with nothing but the best, with a cool ¾s of a mill, All American one hundred dollar bills. And when he's tried for the crimes he's committed, no mercy will be handed down. Then they'll plant him again, right back where they found him, way down deep in a hole in the ground. So down deep that he'll never be found. Reggie Miles © 2003 |

Subject: RE: Hiders in Holes - Songs for Saddam From: The Shambles Date: 24 Dec 03 - 12:22 PM Did I dream that the troops who found him are to export the hole back to their US base? I must have done, if I didn't then a song about how you go about shipping a hole must be a good subject for a song challenge? |

Subject: RE: Hiders in Holes - Songs for Saddam From: Charley Noble Date: 24 Dec 03 - 01:52 PM I was thinking of working up a parody for this concept based on "He's Got the Whole World in His Hands" but I thought better of it... Charley Noble |
