Mind, like spaw, I tend to feel pissed off with people who post as nameless GUEST on purpose - but then I suppose that's why they do it, they like pissing people off. Mind there are people it's fun to piss off, but generally it's better to do it on a more selective basis, I think. I always thought Giok was rather a good way of spelling Jock. As for Catherine Jane Pettigrew - that's a marvellous name. Makes you sit up and take notice a name like that.

The initial decision to use a "handle" was based on the fact that most others here don't post under their own names and, having no experience of using other discussion forums, I wasn't sure what I was letting myself in for. After a couple of years of visiting this site, sending and receiving PMs, etc, I have no problem with using my real name, Merrick Hamilton, (mother had a great sense of humour), but equally find that the Mudcat handles work just as well and I don't feel that I know someone less well just because they haven't told me their name. There are some regulars here who could be picked out by the content and style of their postings under any handle. C-flat. |

He was overdrawn by about £10.31. The bank sent him letter drawing his attention to the matter and charged him £25 for the letter. Now £35.31 overdrawn, this guy changes his name by deed poll to "Yorkshire Bank Plc are greedy, thieving bastards". He advised the bank of his change of name and asked them to issue him with a cheque book, they replied that they no longer wished to retain him as a customer. He then sent them a money order for £36 to settle his account instructing them to send him a cheque for £0.69 made out in his new name. |

Everyone around my place (meaning me, the 2 dachshunds, the hamster, and the chimp) has been weeping unconsolably since Rapaire changed his membername! It's shocking and deeply disturbing. I am, in fact, worried that this Mike Doellman character is someone who's done away with Rapaire and stolen his identity! Why would anyone do that, you ask? Well, it's simple. Mike Doellman wanted to co-opt all of Rapaire's brilliant writings on this forum and pretend that HE was the genius-level mind behind them, then copyright it all and make a fortune! It's a filthy plot, and I won't stand for it. Even though Rapaire is probably gone...dare I say it...forever, we the membership of Mudcat must see that his name does not vanish into obscurity. The WSSBA is going to hold a fundraising event on Sunday, selling lime green bumper stickers that say "Rapaire Lives!" for $15 each, and I hope all Mudcatters will attend and buy at least 5 of them.
