Subject: Tune Req: Cincinnati Dancin' Pig
From: GUEST,Beccy
Date: 22 Dec 03 - 08:45 AM

Hello All- Long time no type. My Grandpa, who inspired me to learn to play and sing music, died last night. He was an amazing man who suffered much in his last years. He's happy now. I want to learn a song that he used to play. I don't know if he wrote it, but I rather suspect it's a tune that many people know. It's called "Cincinnati Dancin' Pig". The only bits of it that I remember go:
Cincinnati Dancin' Pig
He's the barnyard Mr. Big
Cincinnati Dancin' Pig
With his wiggidy jig, jiggedy jig,
jig, jig, jig!

Can anyone help me?
Thanks!
Beccy

Please accept my condolences.
'Cincinnati Dancing Pig' was sung by Red Foley. The Record Lady's All-Time Country Favorites has his audio recording. Click on "REQUESTS PAGE SIX," and scroll down.

Subject: Lyr Add: CINCINNATI DANCING PIG (Red Foley)
From: Jim Dixon

CINCINNATI DANCING PIG
Words by Al Lewis; music by Guy Wood.
As recorded by Red Foley, 1950.

Cincinnati's dancin' pig,
He's the barnyard mister big:
Cincinnati's dancin' pig,
With his riggity jiggity jiggity jig jig-a-jig jig.
Children yell and clap and sing
When he does his buck and wing:
Cincinnati's dancin' pig,
With his riggity jiggity jiggity jig jig-a-jig jig.
Dancin' bears and kangaroos
Have a lot on the ball.
But until you've seen that remarkable pig,
You ain't-a seen-a nothin' at all.
From Duluth to Birmingham, (sooey!)
He's the pork-chop dapper Dan.
He's the keenest hog what am:
Cincinnati's dancin' pig
With his riggity-jiggity-jig-jig-jig.

[REPEAT, SUBSTITUTING FOR THE LAST LINE:]
With his riggity—with his jiggity—jig-jig-jig.

[I also found recordings by Tennessee Ernie Ford and Vic Damone.]
