Subject: El Greko at Open Door From: Harry Basnett Date: 23 Dec 03 - 05:53 PM Yes.. I know its been said elsewhere - - but Manchester is a big place and not everyone knows the name George Papvgeris - - yet!! But George IS El Greko...and a wonderful singer/songwriter ( in the very best way ) and the Open Door IS in Manchester...well - - Failsworth actually at the Star Inn on Church Street. And this IS happening on Sunday the 28th of December... BE THERE OR...be somwhere else I suppose..... |

Subject: RE: El Greko at Open Door From: George Papavgeris Date: 28 Dec 03 - 03:08 AM Christmas song firmly in the running order. Tuner retrieved from Breezy, so reasonable chance of the 12-string being in decent state. Cup of tea delivered to LOML (Light Of My Life) in bed 10 mins ago, so reasonable chance of trip being pleasant. Map identified from Multimap and printed, so reasonable chance of finding Harry's/Star. Last week's cold and Christmas hangover cleared, so reasonable chance of being coherent. In truth, I've been looking forward to being with the Open Door mob again; this is going to be a treat for me. Sithee in a few hours! |

Subject: RE: El Greko at Open Door From: George Papavgeris Date: 29 Dec 03 - 11:24 AM Well, I enjoyed myself! Thanks to all who came, it was great to see you all again. Thanks to Harry & Sara for the floorspace, the late night pizza-cum-malt-cum-chinwag, the wonderfully spicy Bolognese, the chance to listen to the one Branduardi LP that has escaped my collector's clutches...(by the way Harry, the song we couldn't remember was "Here comes my baby" by the Tremeloes). Thanks Pauline for inviting me in the first place! Breezy, the two sets were: Part 1: Give me the good news / Sailing tomorrow / Heart of a sailor boy Countryside like this / Memories of Salonika / Emptyhanded Without you on Christmas Day / Strictly working class Part 2: Living on the stilts / The flowers and the guns / It takes a soldier Johnny don't go walking with the fishes / Sound the horn The bogeyman under my bed / Circles in the air / Recessional Sold some CDs too, and got a promise of a gig in Stockport. All in all a food day's fun in Manchester. See you again soon, folks! |
